Explode Lyrics
Clap if you've got a ticket to the end of the world
World, world, world, oh, oh
Clap if you've got a ticket to the end of the world
World, world, world, oh, oh
It was his last day on the force
He was going through divorce
He was a living, breathing action screen-play, cliche
He said that they found it in the basement
Enough to just blow that roof to the pavement
And he was the man for the job
A one-man bomb squad
A middle aged mess thinking
I feel like im gonna explode any moment
I'm ready to blow I can't stand it
I get so worried and I get so low
And if I'm never your hero I can never let you down
And the sirens going oh ah oh oh oh ah oh oh
Just clap if you got a ticket to the end of the world
World, world, world, oh, oh
Their last hopes, on him they'd hung
And they weighed him like a ton
But perhaps for him, he'd none much left to lose
Tony, don't sweat it, keep your hands steady
You born on a dare, but you were born ready
Cut the red wire, or was that the green wire?
Your a fire like
I feel like im gonna explode any moment
I'm ready to blow I can't stand it
I get so worried and I get so low
And if I'm never your hero I can never let you down
And the sirens going oh ah oh oh oh ah oh oh
Clap if you've got a ticket to the end of the world
World, world, world, oh, oh
Clap if you've got a ticket to the end of the world
World, world, world, oh, oh
And if this is it
I wanna go out with a bang
But I don't claim to know anything
I feel like im gonna explode any moment
I'm ready to blow I can't stand it
I get so worried and I get so low
And if I'm never your hero I can never let you down
And the sirens going oh ah oh oh oh ah oh oh

Patrick is such a brilliant musician, I just know his solo career will go well. <3
Well I am shit at analysing stuff, but this song's for the most part pretty straight forward so here I go:
The verses are pretty narrative, like a story, and very specific. Idk maybe they're a reference to a movie or something? (I hope to god it isn't an obvious reference that makes me look like a twat for not getting.)
"It was his last day on the force." Maybe he was retiring? Whatever the reason, it's just his luck that, literally speaking, he's gotta deal with a bomb. Plus "He was going through divorce," as if his life hadn't already been bad enough, amirite?
He was "born on a dare," so he's nothing special, so he must be feeling pretty sucky.
"He'd none much left to lose." This, coupled with the lines "Clap if you've got a ticket to the end of the world" seem to suggest that the guy's really contemplating letting the bomb kill him, that this could potentially kill him and/or that this is an opportune moment for suicide. He sounds pretty suicidal basically, and this has me thinking that maybe I'm being too literally and really there is no bomb, the whole song's just about a man choosing whether or not to kill himself.
"[He feels like he's] gonna explode Any moment," emotionally, from the bomb if we're being literal, and/or because he can no longer take it and wants to end it all.
(If I was gonna take the meaning as being totally literal, a man is under a lot of pressure, he's gotta diffuse a bomb that'll otherwise kill a bunch of people including himself despite just being an ordinary guy. He's already got his own issues, what with the divorce and the fact that only he could be unlucky enough to have to deal with a bomb on his last day. Basically he's super stressed, feels like he's "gonna explode Any moment," literally (from the bomb) and emotionally (from the pressure). He wishes it was someone else's responsibility, because if he's "never [their] hero [he] can never let [them] down.")
