The Noise Lyrics

I can't sleep at night [the noise, the noise]
My eyes they open wider [the noise, the noise]
I came to relate [the noise, the noise]
Help me compensate for [the noise, the noise]

But I wouldn't do anything
The thundering that throws me away
I wouldn't do anything
Something that keeps me away

I won't go to church [the noise, the noise]
The preacher wouldn't care for [the noise, the noise]
I don't know what's real from [the noise, the noise]
I can't hear a thing for [the noise, the noise, the noise]

I wouldn't do anything
The thunder that throws me away
I wouldn't do anything
The something that keeps me away
I wouldn't do anything
Something that begs me to stay
I wouldn't do anything
Something throws me away

I'm a real stickler for proper punctuation and grammar in posted lyrics, or at least the best possible format. I enjoy adding lyrics to my song data in iTunes, and usually accomplish this by copy + pasting - so naturally I find it troublesome to have to continually edit posted lyrics on my own.

Thank you for posting them, I do appreciate it! However, I find excessive punctuation marks to be distracting and visually displeasing. When it comes to lyrics, periods at the end of each line are unnecessary. The default format for lyrics (including on this website) are to limit punctuation and only use periods, commas, etc. when absolutely necessary. Otherwise things get convoluted and messy real quick.

That said, I have edited and cleaned up these lyrics for you. Thanks again for sharing them! It is so great to be a part of a community in which people can communicate, share, and work together in promoting the love of music, one of life's most sacred and precious joys.

Lyric Correction

You're right, it does look better that way. I've changed it to the way you've written it.

Well, for The Noise (which is one of my favorite songs on the album) is that it's about some disturbance or some bad thought that keeps someone awake and how it keeps blaring in their mind.

Or I thought it could be about how little kids get easily scared by noises in the dark and how they think something is seriously wrong, but "the preacher wouldn't care" for the child's plea's as in people think it's silly.
