Room @ the End of the World Lyrics

I was leaving with the drunks
Singing Sinatra loud
I let go of love
Once it finally had me figured out

I was buried like a treasure
No one came and marked the spot
Some backward pleasures
Started tying tired knots

Sad can't catch me
Or call me baby now
When it's all I use to believe

If the sun don't light
And the night won't turn
We'll get a room at the end of the world
And we'll rewrite all the wrongs we've learned
Safe in our room at the end of the world

These streets are haunted
With ghosts who wait on luck to come
They sleep with hornets
Then they wonder why they wake up stung

Sad can't catch me
Or call me baby now, oh now
When its all I use to believe

If the sun don't light
And the night won't turn
We'll get a room at the end of the world
And we'll rewrite all the wrongs we've learned
Safe in our room at the end of the world

One heart is never enough alone
One heart is never enough alone
Come on come on
Come on and dance with me, love
Just come on and dance with me love
'cause I need it, I need it now
I can see I can see it, I believe it

If the sun don't light
And the night won't turn
We'll get a room at the end of the world
And we'll rewrite all the wrongs we've learned
Safe in our room,
We'll be safe in our room at the end of the world
'Cause I can see it
You and me at the end of the world

The correct lyrics:

I was leaving with the drunks Singing Sinatra loud I let go of love Once it finally had me figured out

I was buried like a treasure But no one ever came to mark the spot So I got good at pleasure And started tying tighter knots

Sad can't catch me Call me baby now When it's all I used to believe

If the sun don't light And the night won't turn We'll get a room at the end of the world And we'll rewrite all the wrongs we've learned Safe in our room at the end of the world

These streets are haunted With ghosts who wait on luck to come They sleep with hornets And they wonder why they wake up stung

The sad can't catch me Call me baby now, oh now When it's all I used to believe

If the sun don't light And the night won't turn We'll get a room at the end of the world And we'll rewrite all the wrongs we've learned Safe in our room at the end of the world

One heart is never enough alone, One heart is never enough alone Come on, come on Come on and dance with me, love Just come on and dance with me love Cause I need it, I need it now I can see it, I can see it, I believe it

If the sun don't light And the night won't turn We'll get a room at the end of the world And we'll rewrite all the wrongs we've learned Safe in our room We'll be safe in our room at the end of the world

I can't believe this doesn't have many comments.. this song is amazing.

I love this song! I feel like it says so much. Above all, I think it is about 2 people who love each other so much that no matter what were to happen in their lives, as long as they were together, then they would be happy.

If the sun don't light/And the night won't turn/We'll get a room at the end of the world/And we'll rewrite all the wrongs we've learned/Safe in our room at the end of the world

If the entire world ended, if we were together, we would be safe. We would learn from our mistakes and we be forever happy. That is what this song says to me.

This person had spent some time alone (or in various failed relationships), but once he found the right person, he understood that it wasn't about what you did in life, but about who you did it with. I love this song so much. It is truly beautiful. It doesn't matter what you do, it about who you do it with. The world will one day end, for you or for everyone, and only the person or people you love will be with you! Beautiful!

This tune is just .. awesome. Honestly, I'm very surprised that it only has three comments so far. I feel this positive, happy hope when I listen to it, from the chords and pace, down to the meaning behind it.

First off - the first line is "I was weaving with the drunks." I see this incorrectly worded as "leaving" all over the Net. Arg! Catch one (or more!) of his live performances on youTube and watch him sing it.

The first couple of stanzas reveal that he was detached from loving anyone, it seems by choice.

"I let go of love, once it finally had me figured out"

and perhaps learned to embrace being detached in the way of relationships.

"So I got good at pleasure, and started tying tighter knots"

At some point, things turn around and he has someone that he believes will change that for him, or at least has it in him to take the chance with someone to "rewrite all the wrongs they've learned." Because it's not going to ever be enough to be alone.

My favorite line is the way he sings, what I think is a reference to the Sinatra song "Come dance with me" (check the lyrics)

"Come on, come on, come on in here dance with me love. OH come on, just come on and dance with me love"

What girl would turn down a request made with such feeling? I absolutely LOVe the heart he puts into that phrase - it totally makes the song.

Aaaaah... (sigh) :-) What a great song! This track reminds me of "Girl on the Roof" by David Mead. Fountains of Wayne: "I'll Do the Driving" Real Estate: "Crime"
