Q&A

Mandarin Lyrics

I can still remember, you once loved me
Forget I never were,
What can I say? What can I do, to make it go away?
Thank you for the kindness,
Stop to say hello
Somebody is pouring me a drink
Drunk and all alone

I'm tearing myself into pieces, even though I'll never fall
I am counting every hour, making sure I'm still around
Wish I could be more like you, than I'd always think things through
When I wake up smiling, and everything's alright

I think I've lived five years these past two months,
Stumble to my feet, what kind of place in this world
Not even knowing where I am,
And my body takes a rest here,
Thanks you for the answers
A stranger pours my drink again
Drunk and all alone.

and i've walked alone
instructions follow me again
put me in my place
back against the wall

well i'm so sorry i'm still boring
you've got something that ignores me
i'm tearing myself into pieces
even tough i never fall
i am counting every hour
making sure i'm still around
i wish i could be more like you
than i always see things through
when i wake up smiling
when i wake up smiling (smile and dream)
when i wake up smiling (smile and dream)
when i wake up smiling (smile and dream)
when i wake up smiling (smile and dream)
smile and dream

Alright, to me
It's alright, to me
It's alright, to me
That you have more to say
That you have more to say

Cover art for Mandarin lyrics by Pulley

Recently, a friend of mine died in a car accident, and this song some how reminds me of her. Although the song has a different meaning, it still makes me think.

To interpret the song fairly, it reminds me of myself, or a person with hidden problems. Reminds me of a person who is so thankful to have the people he has in his life, and it makes me cherish my loved ones and friends more, especially when I link it to the girl I knew who recently died. It's a song of hope, and although it sounds "poppy" for a band like Pulley, I think its the epitome of teenage problems, and how the little things can motivate you to write a song as deep as this.
