End Come Too Soon Lyrics

Break some bread, the night's been blessed
With a neverendingness, but none the less
End come to soon

Sweet concubine, the night's divine
In a never ending line of lovers
End come to soon

On the cusp, the both of us
Without any maybes but musts, that carry us
To the end too soon

Ink begins to blot, my eyes they blood shot, they've seen things they wish they have not, but it won't stop
The end coming too soon

Whose butterfingers read me like Braille?
Whose dirty mouth would have me Mary Hail?
Whose wholesome heart had bore down on me?
Who ushers dreamers into such harems?
Whose skin looked waxen in the failing light?
Who down right danced me like a sailing kite?

Yeah-O Yeah-O Yeah-O Yeah-O
Yeah-O Yeah-O Yeah-O Yeah-O
X4

End come too soon
End come, too soon
End come too soon
End come, too soon
End come, too soon
It comes too soon
It comes too soon
Too soon, too soon
Too soon, too soon
It's too soon, it's too soon
It's too soon, it's too soon
It's too soon, it's too soon
It's too soon, it's too soon
It's too soon, it's too soon
It's too soon..
The end, it comes too soon
Too soon, too soon
Too soon..
The end it came and went too soon

Here's what I think are the lyrics...

Break some bread. The night’s been blessed with a neverendingness, but nonetheless... end come too soon.

Sweet concubine, the night’s divine in an neverending line of lovers... end come too soon.

On the cusp, the both of us without any maybes, but musts that carry us to the end too soon.

Ink begins to blot. My eyes are bloodshot: they’ve seen things they wish they had not, but it won’t stop the end coming too soon.

Whose butter-fingers read me like Braille? Whose dirty mouth would have made Mary hail? Whose wholesome heart had borne down on me? Who ushers dreamers into such harems? Whose skin looked waxen in the failing light? Who downright danced me like a sailing kite?

These lyrics have been haunting me specially the last part. I was seeing someone recently that I liked a lot, and I am still trying to figure out why it ended so soon as it was just so incredibly fun being together. It doesn't matter that I was the one who ended it, out of fear of what was clearly to come. Sometimes you meet the right person at the wrong time. This part translates the agony of losing someone you enjoyed being with:

"End come, too soon It comes too soon It comes too soon Too soon, too soon Too soon, too soon It's too soon, it's too soon It's too soon, it's too soon It's too soon.. The end, it comes too soon Too soon, too soon Too soon.. The end it came and went too soon"

My Opinion

I adore this song and the whole Smother album. It's tender, achingly poignant and always almost brings tears to my eyes. I sort of live through this experience, loving someone so much and letting him go, and the steady rhythm only adds this inevitable touch as if you can't change anything. Love this mixture of sth raw, sensual and even possibly wrong on one side and poetic, spiritual and tender on the other which creates this human range in the album and the song in particular.

These lyrics are way off. I know some of the corrections, though:

"The night's been blessed With a neverending MESS"

"On the cusp The both of us Without any 'maybes' but 'musts' To carry us"

"Ink begins to blot My eyes are bloodshot They've seen things they wish they had not, But it won't stop"

"Whose butter-fingers read me like Braille, Whose dirty mouth have would have made Mary hail [as in the Catholic prayer, The Hail Mary] Whose wholesome heart had bogged down on me"

I know "We wash your streamers into such herrings" is incorrect, but I don't know the correction.

And then it goes, "Whose skin would wax on in the failing light," [like when the moon waxes and wanes]

There are other parts that are incorrect with these, but I don't know the corrections yet, so I'm only correcting what I do kno.

Lyric Correction

I believe your first correction could be

"The night's been blessed, with a never-endingNESS ie a quality of eternity, thus contrasting with 'end come too soon'
