I think the song has something to do with someone hating them self and praying for someone to help them see the light.

It's about suicide. The praying bit is hoping to get people to rush in and save him so he can be all over the news. If they failed to save him, then he'd be happy knowing that his story would be a shocker in the news. An attention seeking suicide attempt, but he succeeds instead.
