On The Line Lyrics
I remember when we used drive that old white car
Never had a lot of gas so we couldnt go to far
I remember all the friends I made which ones were real and which ones were fake
I remember being broke and being bored outta my mind
I wrote songs like these just to pass the time
Told my mama one day imma make us rich
And every single hater out there can suck my dick
We can make it through another night
We'll stand up strong and we'll put up fists to fight
No we won't run and we won't hide
And we'll stay out on the line
We won't run and we won't hide
Yeah we'll stay out on the line
And keep on striving
Ya'll can't break my stride
I will keep on striving
Ya'll can't break my stride
Na na na na na
I remember when mom worked two long shifts
Just to keep on the lights and cook dinner for kids
I remember dreamin of the city lights
Now I look outside and see them every night
And I remember chef boyardee
And cookin ramen noodles for my brother and me
But it's not about the money
It's not about the meals
I said keep it real
Even after the deal, yeah
We can make it through another night
We'll stand up strong and we'll put up fists to fight
No we won't run and we won't hide
Yeah we'll stay out on the line
We won't run and we won't hide
Yeah we'll stay out on the line
And keep on striving
Ya'll can't break my stride
I will keep on striving
Ya'll can't break my stride
Na na na na na

I believe this song is about Mat Musto's childhood. It would appear that he is a kid from the country who grew up fairly poor and possibly without a father. He says the money doesn't matter, though, and no matter what he goes through, he'll live on. The title also suggests that he didn't have a great childhood and faced many hardships. Much like a lot of country kids, it would appear that he wanted to live in the city when he was young. This is a very real song that I can relate to. One can really feel the emotions in this song.
