Now I'll take the blame
So forgot my name
Just close the blinds so I can come down
I'm naked and shamed
A moth to the flame
Just take my hand so we can both drown
I'll never believe in you again
I'll never forgive those things you said
My only relief is gone and dead
I'll never forsake myself again
The same sweet game
Your halo is a flame
Feel my heart race and breathe a sad sigh
Let me wash away
And let go of the pain
Just look away and turn a blind eye
I'll never believe in you again
I'll never forgive those things you said
My only relief is gone and dead
I'll never forsake myself again
I'll never believe in you again
I'll never forgive those things you said
My only relief is gone and dead
I'll never forsake myself again
So hold me down
If I feel I'm stronger
I don't feel no longer
So hold me down
If I feel I'm stronger
I don't feel no longer
So hold me down
If I feel I'm stronger
I don't feel no longer
I'll never believe in you again
I'll never forgive those things you said
My only relief is gone and dead
I'll never forsake myself again
I'll never believe in you again
I'll never forgive those things you said
My only relief is gone and dead
I'll never forsake myself again
I'll never believe in you again
I'll never forgive those things you said
My only relief is gone and dead
I'll never forsake myself again
So forgot my name
Just close the blinds so I can come down
I'm naked and shamed
A moth to the flame
Just take my hand so we can both drown
I'll never forgive those things you said
My only relief is gone and dead
I'll never forsake myself again
Your halo is a flame
Feel my heart race and breathe a sad sigh
Let me wash away
And let go of the pain
Just look away and turn a blind eye
I'll never forgive those things you said
My only relief is gone and dead
I'll never forsake myself again
I'll never forgive those things you said
My only relief is gone and dead
I'll never forsake myself again
If I feel I'm stronger
I don't feel no longer
If I feel I'm stronger
I don't feel no longer
If I feel I'm stronger
I don't feel no longer
I'll never forgive those things you said
My only relief is gone and dead
I'll never forsake myself again
I'll never forgive those things you said
My only relief is gone and dead

I'll never forgive those things you said
My only relief is gone and dead
I'll never forsake myself again

This isn't about prostitution. If it was, what would he have believed in her for and what would she have said that he can't forgive her for?
I think it's about a relationship that ended badly. He wanted a relationship, she didn't, and in the end it was just about sex. He's so desperate for a relationship that it's not the first time this has happened, he ignores his gut when it tells him that he's just being used and then regrets not listening to it when things end.
"Now I'll take the blame, so forget my name" She feels bad after seeing how badly he was hurt, He's blaming himself and wants to forget/pretend it never happened
"I'm naked and shamed, a moth to the flame, just take my hand so we can both drown" It was about sex and he knew it all along but chose not to believe it.
"I'll never believe in you again, I'll never forgive those things you said" In the beginning she was leading him on, now he knows what was really going on and see's she's not the perfect person he hoped she was
"My only release is gone and dead, I'll never forsake myself again" Ignoring the fact that he knew what it was really about, he was extremely happy with her. Deep down he knew he would get screwed in the end like numerous times before and this time he learned his lesson and won't put himself in that situation again.
"The same sweet game" Again, he knowingly puts himself in these situations
"You're halo is a flame" He chose to believe she was a good person, only to find out she didn't have the best intentions
"Feel my heart race and breath a sad sigh" He's not over her even though she was just using him. He wanted a relationship more than anything
"Let me wash away, and let go of the pain, just look away and turn a blind eye" Again, he wants to forget/pretend it never happened
"If I feed I'm stronger, I don't feel no longer" He's angry with himself for putting himself in this situation again. He's become bitter and feels hopeless.
This song hits a little too close to home for me. I'm the one who puts myself in those situations and gets screwed in the end.
Personally I think that this song describes Shaun's relationship with drugs, i know its clichéd but lemme roll with it..
Now I'll take the blame So forget my name Just close the blinds so I can come down I'm naked and shamed A moth to the flame Just take my hand so we can both drown
--To me this verse describes the process of the singer admitting that he has a drugs problem (take the blame) but doesn't really want to give up his habit because of the way it makes him feel. He acknowledges his problem but glosses over it, describing himself as a moth to a flame, finally expressing his desire to get high, again.
[Chorus] I'll never believe in you again I'll never forgive those things you said My only release is gone and dead I'll never forsake myself again.
--To anyone that has used many hard drugs this piece of text speaks volumes, the false promises of happiness that one experiences while they are high can turn into a poisoned gift because once you come down you realise that you are not truly happy, necessitating that you get high again to feel happy. His "only release" to me speaks of a partner, who has left him (maybe because of the drug habit). The final line is his desire to quit, he can see how damaging the drugs are and he wants to quit.
The same sweet game Your halo is aflame Feel my heart race and breathe a sad sigh Let me wash away And let go of the pain Just look away And turn a blind eye
--Again, the undertones about a drug user are plainly obvious. The "halo aflame" would describe the fact that to many who chronically abuse drugs the only time they are happy is when they are high, the drug is their saviour from their lives of ennui. "Feel my heart race and breathe a sad sigh" is the drug kicking in, but instead of being elated at the onset of effects he sighs, he knows that the drug use is bad for him and he is disappointed in the fact that he continues to use. "Let me wash away and let go of the pain", he just wants to forget how bad his life is, he accomplishes this by getting high. "Just turn away and turn a blind eye" he is speaking to himself here, or his conscience, he doesnt want to beat himself up over the drugs, he just wants to be happy.
[Chorus x2]
So hold me down If I feed I'm stronger I don't feel no longer So hold me down If I feed I'm stronger I don't feel no longer So hold me down If I feed I'm stronger I don't feel no longer
--He feels like the drug has got him pinned down, he is defined by his drug use. He just wants to forget his life, to feel better and go to a different place, the drug gives him this false sense of happiness (stronger, in the emotional sense) and he can be happy for a few more hours.
[Chorus x3]
In an interview, Shaun explains how this song is about how drugs came in the way of what once was a good relationship. "Forsaken is a song that's about a particularly toxic relationship that shouldn't have been toxic, but it was, and it was self destructive from the beginning, and about it ending horribly. I unfortunately have never really been able to end relationships and be friends with a lot of my ex girlfriends because I'm kind of — I guess I must be a dick, but um...this relationship was just somebody that I thought was really cool, and just because I was spending more time getting high than focusing on people around me, it fell apart."
When I'm having a bad time, this is what I play. So many songs when you're down and I love this one.
in my opinion its definitely about a prostitute talking about herself..go back and isten to the song coz i cant explain it much more its so abvious
I agree with you for the most part but part of it makes me think it has to do with a relationship. "Ill never believe in you again, Ill never forgive those things you said" I dont see how this line is tied to prostitution.
