A couple of corrections which I think are right:
"It's so remote I couldn't trawl" should be: "It's so remote I couldn't choke"
"So I kissed my mommy, I wanna sweet cheeks" should be: "So I kissed my mommy, oh on her sweet cheeks"
"Said to my brother I'll surely miss him" should be: "Said to my brother I shouldn't miss him"
And I think the meaning of this song is that you shouldn't stay in a 'safe zone' all your life, but to get out and explore everything and to have no regrets.

The song is about how grouplove met while living in Europe. It's about both leaving for Europe, and returning home. I believe it does therefore encompass the themes expressed by eventidexc in the latter part of their comment.
So it's "choke" instead of "trawl", and the guy won't miss his brother? Not much of an improvement Why would you want to 'choke' and why would the remoteness of a town stop you doing so?
