War Of The Gods Lyrics
War, the very first war of our world
When the treacherous witch was killed
Three times burned
The three times born
By searing flames was Gullveig torn
Death, Oden hurled his spear off with great force
Deep into the great Vana-Fyrd
Battle horns gave up their sound
And Asgård walls razed to the ground
The Vanir felt deceived
Höne was a fool
Without Mimr at his side
Höne could not rule
In a fit of violent rage
Mimr's blood was shed
And to Oden's court they sent
Mimr's severed head
Truce, so a brittle and frail peace was forged
And to ensure that the peace remained
Njord and Frej to Asgård came
And Hön' and Mim' to Vanaheim
Death, see the furious gods wanting blood
Oden knew that a raging war
Would not bring them any gain
Just leave a black and bitter stain
Oden tog huvudet och
Smorde det med örter
Som hindrade det
Från att ruttna
Han kvad sedan
Trollsånger över det
Så att Mimr åter
Kunde tala till honom
[English translation:]
Oden took the head, and anointed it with herbs
which prevents it from rotting
He sang his magic songs over it
So that Mimr be able to speak to him
The Vanir felt deceived
Höne was a fool
Without Mimr at his side
Höne could not rule
In a fit of violent rage
Mimr's blood was shed
And to Odin's court they sent
Mimr's severed head

About the Æsir—Vanir War.
This seems to be focused around the Æsir—Vanir War. Mimir & Hænir were the two Asagods sent over to Vanaheim. This is also the start of Odin's quest for knowledge possibly. "Odin took the head, and anointed it with herbs which prevents it from rotting He sang his magic songs over it So that MÃmir be able to speak to him" And Mimir was a god of knowledge, so the Mimir's Head was giving him consult, as well as giving him secret knowledge. Also, I think there's a few Lyric problems.
it's "The Vanir failed to see, Hœnir was a fool, Without Mimir at his side, Hænir could not rule." There are also a few other pieces I THINK might be wrong but I have no idea.
Actually, the lyrics are correct. I bought the cd a few months ago. I think that with this phrase "The vanir felt decieved" Johan tries to explain that when Mimir was not around, Höne always replied "now let others give their advice", because Mimir was the wise one, and Höne was not prepared to rule and think by himself.

Assuming, of course, that the lyrics posted on the page currently didn't come from the book. And I apologize for sounding foolish if they did.
I took the lyrics directly from the book.
This song is awesome. For a death metal band, this was a pretty epic song Amon Amarth did.
