Bird Of Paradise Lyrics
Saw you flying by
Flash of Turquoise Blue
I just had to try
To keep your life in view
My bird of paradise
Sweet bird of paradise
Wish that I could fly
I'd be beside you now
But I can only sigh
And watch you circle round
My bird of paradise
Sweet bird of paradise
My bird of paradise
Sweet bird of paradise
My bird of paradise
So you fly away
When will you come again
So I can watch you play
In the pouring rain
My bird of paradise
Sweet bird of paradise
My bird of paradise
Sweet bird of paradise
My bird of paradise
Flash of Turquoise Blue
I just had to try
To keep your life in view
Sweet bird of paradise
I'd be beside you now
But I can only sigh
And watch you circle round
Sweet bird of paradise
My bird of paradise
Sweet bird of paradise
My bird of paradise
When will you come again
So I can watch you play
In the pouring rain
Sweet bird of paradise
My bird of paradise
Sweet bird of paradise
My bird of paradise

The first strophes makes it seem that the singer is singing of a person that is a "free spirit". This independent person grew very close too the singer but he left him after being with him for a very short period of time.
The verses "When will you come again so I can watch you play in the pouring rain" on the other hand gives us the hint that the bird Snowy White is singing about is actually a child. Why isn't the child with the singer anymore? Has he given it away? Was it kidnapped? Did it die? The third seems to be the most likely because the bird left the singer and not the other way round. And it left free willingly.
What does the pouring rain symbolise? It usually symbolises sadness but wouldn't the singer be happy if he could see the child again?
This song is confusing me.
