Eyes black, big paws and
It's poison and
It's blood and big fire,
Big burn into the ashes and
No return
Woooooooooooooooooooooo (x4)

We took you out
From your mother's womb
Our temple, your tomb
Can be your pick
Not pawned
The poison is blood
Wooooooooooooo (x4)

We've been calling
Black paw who's soaring

We go out in the morning
Down the trail
To somewhere

You are the sound that I hear (x2)
We are not standing
We are falling
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooo (x4)

    My Interpretation

First of all: Sorry for spelling errors, My english is a bit rusty.

I think the song is about a group of warriors (much or less civilized people) who hunt for a monstrous wolf in the forest (We took you out - From your mother's womb (Metaphor for forest) - Our temple, your tomb (the temple is the human civilization, with her human order, where a monster will not survive).

The warriors know that there maybe is "no return" to the mission of their hunt. However they are still brave enough to go out and face their demon. The Poisen could mean that once one get in touch with a real dark creature he can be poisened (or get another lethal damage) afterwards.

The group starts their hunt quite confident: They are calling the wolf out for fight. But then as expected the big paw is rising. And you could get the feeling that they are the hunted right now. As they seem to lose their orientation and just go down the trail "somewhere" the group starts to hear the wolf growling and they realise that they will no longer rise but fall (die) right now.

Right now I mainly see two secondary interpretations.

First one ist, that you face a fear that you have to face because it is menacing you. And being brave even if you know that your gonna loose a fight.

Second on is being very proud in the beginning of something and jumping into a danger that gets out of control

I personally like the dark and mystic atmosphere of the song and of course Karins mystic voice. Thanks for reading! Have a nice day!

    It's definitely

"We took you out From your mother’s womb".

Also something that's interesting is that although the bits where she's wailing are supposed to sound like a wolf and whatnot, it kind of reminds me a little of the hook from Danielle Dax's 'Big Hollow Man'. Dax played the Wolf girl in 'The Company of Wolves', which this new Red Riding hood film ahem heavily borrows from. Obviously it's not a direct or deliberate thing, but I just thought it was kinda interesting. Maybe Fever Ray is a Dax fan, who knows?

i believe it's "you KNOW the sound that i hear" just based on the extra syllable ;) always hard finding the right lyrics when the singer has a strange accent, lol. not sure what this song about, but i've heard rumors that it actually has something to do with aliens. who knows, but either way i get a very uneasy and at the same time empowering feeling from this song. i also agree that the "wooo" sound could be an homage to "the company of wolves" but again who knows. this song is so mysterious, which i think is one of the things that makes it awesome. oh, and i happened to love "red riding hood" and wish they'd make a sequel. hearing this song in that movie was the beginning of my love for fever ray's music. :)
