This song was inspired by the band's extensive touring schedule in support of their debut release. Guitarist Steven Chen explained to Spinner: "The idea for 'Numb' grew out of the deep, omnipresent bass at all these festivals we played back-to-back in 2009. Walking around, we were instantly bombarded by nondescript thumping music and masses of people. There's a tendency to withdraw completely into your own head at these moments, and the song is about that feeling of detachment that washes over you even as you find yourself surrounded."

This song must have a lot to do with Mikel going on tour and running away from his problems, but them following him. At this point I just want to see a picture of the girl that all these songs are about.
