Long Live the Fallen World Lyrics

The past is just washed away
It's far new under
The last wine is poison
But we're still drinking from the cup
And no demonstration
Feels closer than now

Long live (long live the fallen world)
The fallen world (the fallen world)
Long live (long live the fallen world)
The fallen world (the fallen world)

We squandered and spoked me up
A soldier of few
We're torn into secrets
But into the sheep I knew
Is all my frustration
Inside of you too

Long live (long live the fallen world)
The fallen world (the fallen world)
Long live (long live the fallen world)
The fallen world (the fallen world)

There's no devastation
Ever in doubt
I want to believe that
The weight is too much

When will inspiration
Ever be enough
You want to believe me?
Then sing it with love

A tin house is building
The world in its throat
Its feedback is drowning us
And we aren't listening anymore

Long live (long live the fallen world)
The fallen world (the fallen world)
Long live (long live the fallen world)
The fallen world (the fallen world)

I know some of the lyrics are off (I buy mp3s, not physical albums, and they aren't displayed on the web anywhere else as far as I know) so I've deciphered these to the best of my ability, based on dozens and dozens of listens. But as we know, if we hear the wrong lyrics once it's common to mishear them over and over, until you're corrected.

So if anyone else has the lyrics from the liner notes or hears something different than what I've provided above, let me know.

Okay, so I listened a bunch and changed it to "we squandered and spoked me up" YES, "spoked" is a word - it means to prevent a wheel from turning by inserting a rod. This line could be Mother Earth addressing the world... we have squandered the resources on this planet, and we prevent the cycles of nature from turning as they should by "inserting the rod" of industry and consumerism across the globe.

Hell, I could be wrong. I'm going to purchase a physical copy of the album to alleviate the burden I've placed on myself by trying to decipher the lyrics by ear.

I have the physical album here, and I'm more than happy to make the necessary corrections:

The passage is washed away The garden unloved The last wine is poisoned We're still drinking from the cup And no demonstration Feels potent enough

(The chorus is correct as it's posted)

We've squandered utopia We've sold out our views We've torn into secrets Bought into the cheap and new Is all my frustration Inside of you too?

Is no devastation Ever enough? I want to believe that No weight is too much

When will inspiration Ever be enough? You want to believe me? Then sing it with love

A din has been building The world's in its throes Its feedback is drowning us And we aren't listening anymore
