Some differences I hear in the first verse

insipid wait, and so we play companions no story games, could you behave? companions

Also, a bit of a typo

i hold you in, **you're holding out

If I'm correct about the lyrics then, The song seems to be about people who were friends as children, but later in life they start to have thoughts about getting into a more romantic relationship. However, they each have their doubts about whether it would work/damage their long friendship.
