What a Drag Lyrics

I'm smearing a bug, in a bottomless pit.
I am sending my love, but they won't let it in.
You are dragging me down, I am clutching a tree.
When I fall back now, deeper and deeper.

You've got them long nails, I'm dreaming of your goddamn long nails.
You've got them long nails, I'm dreaming of your goddamn long nails.
You have your finger so deep.

Listening is really just a fabulous feat.
When you live underground, it's the way that you see.
It's the light in your hair, it's the weight of the breeze
And when I fall back now, deeper and deeper.
Deeper and deeper, deeper and deeper.
Deeper and deeper, deeper and deeper.

You've got them long nails, I'm dreaming of your goddamn long nails.
You've got them long nails, I'm dreaming of your goddamn long nails.
You have your finger so deep.

I think that it says

Listening is really just a valueless deed. When you live underground, it's the way that you SEE. (Not Sleep)

Overall an easy to listen to jam. I hope to see more great thigns out of Bear Hands. I think I read somewhere the other day that Bear Hands had opened for MGMT and Silversun Pickups before. I feel I can pick up on both of those sounds.

shit god damn this song is so good

What I hear is:

"Listening is really just a fabulous feat,"

As if to say acquiring the ability to really listen is an accomplishment, which would tie in to the next line,

"When you live underground, it's the way that you see,"

If you were to actually live underground, it would take more listening to get around rather than seeing, which would increase your ability to hear things and listen to things. Although the song isn't literally talking about living underground, I think it's talking about being a lonely person, or just isolating yourself.

I hear "I'm smearing a BUG in a bottomless pit," which I'm not so sure about, and "You are dragging me down, I am CLUTCHING a tree," which I'm pretty much positive about.

I'm guessin' it's about her digging her nails into his back as he's on top of her and they're "busy." He's not too depressed for that:)
