Killing Time Lyrics

I had hope
The halfway point in between progress and alone
Forever more
I am a faded sweatshirt you forgot was hanging on the closet door
But it's the ride, it's not the point
You end up at treating every day like it could be your last
One day it will, one day it will
And we'll all praise you at your funeral for this life you tried to build

Spent all my life waiting for a moment to come, to come
Walking single file waiting for a moment to come, but it won't
I'm halfway to happy now
And I always mistake it for progress, for progress

Morning comes
Your bed's a safe place
Your eyelids blocking pain but standing in the way
Stay off the brink, come whatever may
Hope for the best, be okay with anything
Let's get a life, allow ourselves to change
Don't be convinced everything will stay the same
You're beaten down like everyone
But can a person make a difference if he never makes a sound?

I spent all my life waiting for a moment to come, to come
Walking single file waiting for a moment to come, but it won't
I'm halfway to happy now
And I always mistake it for progress, for progress

Spent all my life waiting for a moment to come, to come
Walking single file waiting for a moment to come, but it won't
We all have to test our will, a trial
I'm half way to happy now
And I always mistake it for progress, for progress, for progress, for progress

WHY IS THERE NO COMMENTS ON THIS SONG!?!?!?!

Anyways! lol I think this song is talking about someone who always does as he is told and never stands out ever. He wants something to happen but it wont because he wont stand out. He is never truly happy because he never really expresses himself.

the part i really wanna know the meaning of is "im halfway to happy now. and i always mistake it for progress"

It means he's being too complacent in terms of what he wants. He won't be truly happy until he stops accepting things the way they are just because they're "ok" and begins to actively pursue the change that he really wants.

It mimics the sentiment in other lines in the song, like "Hope for the best, but okay with anything" and "can a person make a difference if he never makes a sound." He is realizing if he keeps "waiting for his moment to come," he will always be stuck at just "halfway to happy."...

@fer623 Halfway through his life??? "happy" is when he dies?????

I think it is about feeling stuck where you are in life. Especially the line "I'm halfway to happy now And I always mistake it for progress". Because being half way to happy is no different than being halfway from unhappy, thus it is not progress. Other lines throughout the song point to feeling small, insignificant, and stuck in place.
