Who You Are

I think the song simply encourages us to stay who we are in a world of superficiality. I especially love the part, "It's okay not to be okay. Sometimes it's hard to follow your heart. Tears don't mean you're losing, everybody's bruising..."

She wrote this song when she was feeling lonley as she had been in LA for 3 months alone song writing. This song was written on the last session and it was inspired by her waking up in the night and just looking at herself and thinking: "Whats up babe, why are you doing this to yourself, why are you so obsessed with what you look like. I went to the studio, wrote the song and i cried for most of the day". She started singing 'dont lose who you are in the blur of the stars'. That lien of the song means most to her and as soon as she got home from LA she got it tattooed on her hip, unfortunatly she was jet lagged, and wrote Dont loose rather than lose. She didnt even notice untill 4 dasy later when her mum told her.

Each time she sings this song she has to hold back the tears.

Personally it is my favourite song.

I think from the view of Jessie J it was written maybe under the pressure of making it big and trying not to lose herself in the process of it. If you put yourself in the shoes of someone on famous or to become famous the song makes complete sense.

However, famous or not this song is super powerful. The message is so powerful which is hard to find these days. It is one of my favourite Jessie J songs, because the message is just so beautiful.

I love this song. It basically means no one's perfect, everyone cries, and everyone makes mistake. Deep down inside, we all feel the same about bad situations. But we can all be unique in our own way. "There's nothing wrong with who you are"

I think she wants us, and herself to be reminded that everyone's not perfect, that we shouldn't try to perfect ourselves, that we should love the skin we're in. I think it's also saying that we shouldn't give in to ourselves for our some imperfection/flaws of who we are.

this song is just beautiful. Jessie J is an amazing singer/songwriter.

I did however think instead of:

'Don't lose who you are in the blur of the start'

is it 'Don't lose who you are in the blur of the stars'?

It is 'Dont lose who you are in the blue of the stars' instead of 'dont lose who you are in the blur of the start'

its definately "in the blur of the stars" if you watch her sing it live you can tell.

I'll admit, When I first listened to Do It Like A Dude...the first thing I thought was..."oh great, another pop star who uses autotune and can't sing." Then I heard the rest of her album and I was blown away! This is my favorite song on this album (: (: It's incredible :3

I think this song is how she was bullied as a kid but believed in herself. I believe that this is was she has learnt and wants us to learn through her pain.
