Poor in Love Lyrics

I was poor in love
I was poor in wealth
I was okay in everything else there was
Oh, I was poor in love

I was poor in love

I was poor in love
I was poor in wealth
I was okay in everything else there was
Oh, I was poor in love

I was poor in love

She took me aside and said
Look, I don't do this every day
You've got style

All you've got is style
I can see it from a mile away
Oh, I was poor in love

I was poor in love

You were born again, rich in him alone
Your Jesuit profile will suit the coming apocalypse
Oh, I was poor in love

Poor in love

Why's everybody sing along
Why's everybody sing along
When we built this city on ruins

Why's everybody sing along
Why's everybody sing along
When we built this city on ruins

Oh, ruins
Oh, ruins
Oh, ruins

This song is so beautiful and this lyrics so sad. It's probably about being unlucky and unhappy, but not necessarily single. Something - a relationship - has been built but it was poor like a city on ruins, and the question may appear because people supporting that, "singing along", doesn't make sense.

Thanks, you're right. I also think it's "... born again, rich in him alone...", so I'm updating that too.

I think its "rich in name alone" not "rich in him alone" but I could be wrong
