The Outside Lyrics
What if I'm not the same
What if I never let go of the blame
What if you drag me back again
What if I would let you just pretend
I erase this memory
I escape this gravity
Is that how I used to be
Is that the price of my identity
I'm standing on the outside
I'm looking in on what you can't hide
Your dying on the inside
Because now I can see the lies from the outside
What if I stand ashamed
What if I can't let go of the pain
What if I have something to lose
What if I've got nothing left to prove
I replace this life you stole
I replace the world I know
What if you were always wrong
And if I said I knew it all along
I'm standing on the outside
I'm looking in on what you can't hide
Your dying on the inside
Because now I can see the lies from the outside
I'm not you
I will never be you
I won't let you pull me through
I'm standing on the outside
I'm looking in on what you can't hide
Your dying on the inside
Because now I can see the lies from the outside
I'm standing on the outside
I'm looking in on what you can't hide
Your dying on the inside
Because now I can see the lies from the outside
What if I never let go of the blame
What if you drag me back again
What if I would let you just pretend

surprised no one has commented on this yet. I think it goes with friendship alittle because this album talks about our identity. Let me explain what it means to me. reminds me of what's happening in my life right now
What if I'm not the same What if I never let go of the blame What if you drag me back again What if I would let you just pretend
I'm not the same with My friend, what if I'm to blame because I was friends with her and kept going on back to her and she pretended our friendship.
I erase this memory I escape this gravity Is that how I used to be Is that the price of my identity
I'm erasing the memories we had, I'm escaping her pull. Yes i used to be like always being next to her and was that my identity? Yes it was being next to her and her problems
I'm standing on the outside I'm looking in on what you can't hide Your dying on the inside Because now I can see the lies from the outside
I'm not on her inside anymore (probably never been). I know the secrets she hides on the insides. One thing she hides is her innocents and I know she is dying without me and I see her lies and ways from the outside.
What if I stand ashamed What if I can't let go of the pain What if I have something to lose What if I've got nothing left to prove
we all stand ashamed at what we've done. Pain is hard to let go and I'm still letting mine go. Its from all the pain she gave me. We all have something to loose and which holds us back. I have nothing to prove because the can't see her for what i see her.
I replace this life you stole I replace the world I know What if you were always wrong And if I said I knew it all along
She stole my life and I'm slowly replacing it back. She controlled my world and I'm fixing it What if she was wrong? she was about everything, since day 1 and I knew it all but I didn't believe it.
I'm standing on the outside I'm looking in on what you can't hide Your dying on the inside Because now I can see the lies from the outside
same as above
I'm not you I will never be you I won't let you pull me through
she tried to get me to be like her but I can and never be like her and I won't let her pull me through.
I'm standing on the outside I'm looking in on what you can't hide Your dying on the inside Because now I can see the lies from the outside
same as above

If I'm wrong correct me but this is what i thought of the song.
I completely feel the pain you've received from you friend. What started out as something magical ended in bitter ashes. It's probably extremely frustrating when you feel one way about her and she tells you all these things that make you believe the feeling is mutual but her actions never corroborate anything she tells you. Empty scathing lies that in hindsight hurt even more. It almost makes you feel like a tool to a point and no matter how much you want to burn these bridges the part of you that loves her won't allow you to because the kinder...

Empty scathing lies that in hindsight hurt even more. It almost makes you feel like a tool to a point and no matter how much you want to burn these bridges the part of you that loves her won't allow you to because the kinder part of your soul refuses to turn your back on someone who always trusted you to be there for them; you're heart is tied to a rope of needles that slices it even more any way you pull it.
This kinda makes me think of a friend I had and I thought he was everything and the most perfect person ever. But then he started being really rude and mean to the point where he was bullying me one minute when it was him and me alone. Then when we were with others he acted like he was my best friend.
So to sum this up, he was being fake. I gave him a lot of chances till I couldn't take it anymore then I dropped him.
This song is about a friendship or relationship ending then realizing looking at that person later. Did I used to be like that. or why did I like them?
This song sounds like the voice of a former addict looking in on his past, as an old, unwanted friend, so to speak.. He seems to be looking on his past life with the eye of a man who has escaped the grasp of temptation, like an ex-smoker, or ex-drug addict.
