Getaway Lyrics

Well I'm down again,
And nobody knows.
Each time I go under,
I drown a little longer
Alone.

I'm losing ground,
Sinking again
Somehow.

Strung out on this feeling,
Something's gotta change.
Thinking about leaving
On a runaway train.
Don't know where it's going,
But I've seen it all before.
All my life dreaming
Of some place so far away,
Far away.
I gotta getaway.

Can you hear it coming?
Now it's time to go.
Fifteen minutes 'til freedom,
And I'm still fighting demons
Alone.

I'm breaking out,
Finding my way
Somehow.

Strung out on this feeling,
Something's gotta change.
Thinking about leaving
On a runaway train.
Don't know where it's going,
But I've seen it all before.
All my life dreaming
Of some place so far away,
Far away.
I gotta getaway.

Take me far from here,
I promise I won't look back.

Strung out on this feeling,
Something's gotta change.
Thinking about leaving
On a runaway train.
Don't know where it's going,
But I've seen it all before.
All my life dreaming
Of some place so far away,
Far away.
I gotta getaway,

Gotta getaway.

Cover art for Getaway lyrics by Ross Copperman

He tends to be fairly straightforward in his songs. This one (I'm assuming) is about not liking where you are. You're always "fighting demons", have no one to support you, and finding it hard to survive. Therefore, you just want to leave, and you've been wanting to for a while, but it seems sort of impossible, hence the "Don't know where it's going, But I've seen it all before. All my life dreaming Of some place so far away". The song doesn't have a final conclusion, so the final verdict seems to be that even if he gets away from a specific place, it's all the same. He can't get away from those feelings.
