Someone having emotional problems and wanting someone to come and save him. He doesn't like himself and he is tired of the feeling. When s/he's at his worst a friendly face emerges to help him through the pain. It creates an uncomfortable feeling because it's something s/he's not used to. And s/he worried he'll destroy her (probably not intentionally though). He fears his effect on her. Very sad song.
