Dear Candy Lyrics
I was never near
just a shadow on your walls
I was never here at all.
Dear Candy...
I was never yours.
You were never mine.
I was never near at all.
Dear Candy...
This was all a fantasy of yours.
This was just a dream you had
and I was never here.
I was never here.
You were never mine.
I was never yours.
Whoah, Candy.
Oh, Candy.
Do you see me in your dreams?
Do you whisper my name?
Do you hear when my static rings in your ears?
Candy
I was never yours.
You were never mine.
I was never near at all.
Dear Candy...
This was all a fantasy of yours.
This was just a dream you had
and I was never here.
I was never here.
I was never here at all.
Oh, Candy
just a shadow on your walls
I was never here at all.
You were never mine.
I was never near at all.
This was just a dream you had
and I was never here.
I was never here.
I was never yours.
Oh, Candy.
Do you whisper my name?
Do you hear when my static rings in your ears?
Candy
You were never mine.
I was never near at all.
This was just a dream you had
and I was never here.
I was never here.
I was never here at all.
Oh, Candy

I wonder if this song is about the character "Candy" from season two of the show rescue me (Spoiler alert). Candy lures one of the fireman into a relationship. The character ultimately discovers that Candy is not really who she says she is and the relationship was never really what he thought it was. Candy turns out to be a scam artist and the whole relationship turns out to have been a fraud all along. "I Was never here. I was never here at all. . . I was never yours, you were never mine. . . ."
I'm pretty sure this songs about Mandy Moore when they were on the rocks. Clearly that's all patched up now

I keep wondering if Candy isn't the same Candy mentioned in the lyrics of "Dear John". I always interpreted her as John's mistress, which would make sense in the context of this song, if he really did love his wife.
