All You Need Is Now Lyrics
It's all up to you now
Find yourself in the moment
Go directly to the voodoo
Now the channel is open
Lose your head
Lose control
You come on delicate and fine
Like a diamond in the mine
Oh whoa, yeah
When you move into the light
You're the greatest thing alive
Oh whoa
And you sway in the moon
The way you did
When you were younger
When we told everybody
All you need is now
Stay with the music let it
Play a little longer longer
You don't need anybody
All you need is now
Everybody's gunning
For the VIP section
But you're better up and running
In another direction
With your bones in the thrall
Throw a shadow on the vine
Bat your lashes let it shine
Oh whoa, yeah
Every moment that arrives
You're the greatest thing alive
Oh whoa
And you sway in the moon
The way you did
When you were younger
And we told everybody
All you need is now
Stay with the music let it
Play a little longer longer
You don't need anybody
All you need is now
All you need, all you need is now
All you need, all you need is now
All you need, all you need is now
And we will sway in the moon
The way we did
When we were younger
(When we were younger)
When we told everybody
All you need is now
Stay with the music let it
Play a little longer
(A little longer)
We don't need anybody
All you need is now
Oh whoa

Loved D-D in the 80's and this is why I like this song - it sounds a lot to me like the 80's D-D. Really like the lyrics, it's like pongratz said it is about focusing on the now - it would be nice to be back in 1983 and be 30 years younger but you have to roll with the present. There are little sexual messages in most of DD songs and that's the way I take this one. I see from the lyrics a young girl from the 80's who may have lost confidence in her looks and would be shay and stay in the shadows, but Simon is saying that you you've still got it:
"When you move into the light You're the greatest thing alive" lots of girls in their 40's & 50's are still hot but they never hear it from anyone - the song says "And you sway in the moon The way you did When you were younger" that the older girl just needs some encouragement to party like they did when they were younger
its exactly what the title is. not worrying about anything else just now. just making the most of now. because really all you need to focus on is now
Can anyone shine a light on "go directly to the voodoo, now the channel is open"? Is this related to the african religion in which you pin a needle in a cushion puppet that is supposed to hurt the real person?
That is a great song, but if this has anything to do with those silly afries, it completely ruined!
An excellent song about the suddenly rediscovered grace of a girl dancing in the moonlight. This magic was presumed lost, but in the intensity of the current moment he has an Advaita-style realisation that her essence is timeless and is compelled to share his wonder.
Musically there are two styles to this song. The verses are a harsh everyday traffic jam of synths but then out of nowhere their earlier melodic brilliance is somehow fully present again, conveying the same message as the words.
