Darling Harbour Lyrics

In a lighthouse by the sea, at the 33rd degree,
You'll make me feel so special and free.
But there's something in the air, turning stutters into stares,
I'll look into your blue eyes and say:

Darling, don't throw it all away, I'm here to make you stay with me.

In this sun I look so pale, northern skin so thin and frail,
But I try to close my eyes, when everything starts fading.
When I wake up from this dream, shivering under cold sheets,
Ten thousand miles away, I'll wish I was on King street.

Darling, don't throw it all away, I'm here to make you stay with me.

Newly risen, how brightly you shine.
Something seems to give inside my heart when you're nearby.
All I've given to you is vacant eyes,
I don't understand, I can't figure it out, I can't figure it.

On a park bench by the street, at the 43rd degree,
I'll sit and watch the snowfall and think.
If these walls could tell the tale, an excuse to no avail,
Would you ever begin to forgive me again, to forgive me now?

(Darling) Don't throw it all away.
(Darling) I'm here to make you stay with me.
(Stay with me, Stay with me)
(Darling) Don't throw it all away.
(I don't understand, I don't understand)
(Darling) I'm here to make you stay with me.
I can't figure it out, I can't figure it.

The end of the song should go like this instead:

(Darling) Don't throw it all away. (Darling) I'm here to make you stay with me. (Stay with me, Stay with me) (Darling) Don't throw it all away. (I don't understand, I don't understand) (Darling) I'm here to make you stay with me. I can't figure it out, I can't figure it.

Shane: "Josh came up with the music for this song just as we were finishing up writing 2009’s A Shipwreck In The Sand, so we didn't have time to record it. I’m almost glad, because this song became really special to me and I needed the vocals to be perfect in terms of what I wanted to say and the vibe I wanted to come out of it. Fitting it into the concept of Shipwreck wouldn't have been right for that song or record."

This song was inspired by both Sydney (Darling Harbour, King Street...), which is one of their favourite places in the world, and an episode of Lost that Shane dreamt of one night.
