Body Parts Lyrics

My heart was talking to my head,
Said I've loved once,
I'll never love again,
And my head at this replied,
I'll miss her too,
She was easy on the eyes.

And now all they do,
Is look around for you,
And every night,
With their lids closed tight,
They are lost in dreams,
That they'll awake and see,
You lying next to me

My feet could feel it in their soles,
We have gone too far,
And we'll never make it home
And these hands, they felt the same
They held her once,
But they let her slip away.

And now all I do,
Is look around for you,
And every night,
With my eyes closed tight,
I'm lost in dreams,
That I'll awake and see,
You lying next to me.

If there's one thing I've learned,
It's how easy the tables turn
And if there's one thing I know,
It's the fine art of letting go.

My heart was talking to my head,
Said I've loved once,
I'll never love again.
And now all I do,
Is look around for you,
And every night,
With my eyes closed tight,
I'm lost in dreams,
That I'll awake and see,
You lying next to me.

Woo! First comment of this song :D Probably because the meaning of it is pretty straighforward. But what a great song! By personifying different parts of the body to show how he misses the one he loves - it's a real unique way of expressing an otherwise really cliche' thing to write a song about.

The first few times I listened to this song I was a little peeved at the lines:

"And my head to this replied, I'll miss her too She was easy on the eyes"

Because the mood of this song is very apparently deep and full of yearning, and that last line just seemed, well, quite shallow for the intended impression. As in "easy on the eyes," really?? Oh she was nice to look at - good to know what you valued in her.. But then I thought about it and, it's reasonable actually. After all, that IS his head that's saying that right? And the head can be shallow - that's simply the way it is. It's the heart that goes deep and looks at things genuinely. What other way would the head express its love for someone? So frankly, it's practically a genuine compliment - coming from the head, that is.
