Mothers Lyrics

Their feet are cracked
As they break their back
In the sun-heat
It's all, yes, it's all
For your pennies
Their kids can't go to school
In the morning
Because narcotics grow better than books

And my only hope
Is for their mothers and their daughters
To be loved

Only New York can make it right
If they want to
The consensus is rather apathy
My soul, my soul cries for them
In the morning
Because I'm guilty just the same

But eye to eye
I haven't been
But my cries are swelling
Cause they have faces
They have faces

And my only hope
Is for their mothers and their daughters
To be loved

Cover art for Mothers lyrics by S. Carey

Such an amazing song. Sad but so beautiful.

I think he's upset no one does anything for the poor, but he feels guilty because he doesn't do anything either. So heart-breakingly beautiful.

Cover art for Mothers lyrics by S. Carey

This song on the outside seems to be solely about a man feeling guilty for not doing enough for the poor community who have horrid lives, but I think it has a deeper meaning. This deeper meaning is what makes me love Sean Carey so much. I think that S. Carey is trying to expose that people of a less fortunate upbringing and environment have "faces" too, they have a personality, an Identity, a life. He only hopes that they could experience love in life.
