You Didn't Really Do That Lyrics
The sun above your head, I am home
The day was looking good, but I guess I spoke too soon
You couldn't shut your eyes while I was dreaming inside,
You didn't even knock upon my door.
But you didn't really do that, did you?
You could've had it back, but I held you
You had it pretty good until the end
You didn't really do that, did you?
The stars were in your eyes and mine, too
You couldn't trust the moon over my head
You said you had it better back then, did you?
But you didn't really mean that, did you?
You could've said anything else
You could've had it back, but I held you
You had it pretty good, until the end
You didn't really mean that, did you?
Your hair is falling out as mine grays
The time is passing right before our eyes
The stars are dead, but they still shed light
You didn't really do that, did you?
You could've had it back, but i held you
You had it pretty good, until the end
But you didn't really do that...
You didn't really do that...
You didn't really do that, did you?
The day was looking good, but I guess I spoke too soon
You couldn't shut your eyes while I was dreaming inside,
You didn't even knock upon my door.
You could've had it back, but I held you
You had it pretty good until the end
You didn't really do that, did you?
You couldn't trust the moon over my head
You said you had it better back then, did you?
But you didn't really mean that, did you?
You could've said anything else
You could've had it back, but I held you
You had it pretty good, until the end
You didn't really mean that, did you?
The time is passing right before our eyes
The stars are dead, but they still shed light
You could've had it back, but i held you
You had it pretty good, until the end
But you didn't really do that...
You didn't really do that...
You didn't really do that, did you?

I love her voice. I don't know why no one has commented on this song!
Her voice is haunting, and it draws me in every time I listen to this song. The song is a beautiful enigma, and I can't seem to figure it out. Well, I imagine that she's reflecting on someone she loves, but that doesn't love her in quite the same way, or as deeply, though this person stays with her. The beloved doesn't trust the speaker, and probably doesn't trust him/herself to love, and the speaker is in denial, shock, and disappointment about it. That's why she asks, "You didn't really do that, did you?" and, "You didn't really mean that, did you?" The speaker doesn't want to believe that her beloved doesn't feel the same way.
