Sick, Sick, Sick Lyrics

I curse to hell the magistrate who granted this unholy fate,
But I know, I know I asked for this, myself.
I'm bound by law to hell and it's
Sick, sick, sick!
Humans and their needs,
Living in a fairytale, it's tearing up the seams.
The dank reject, a devil in a dress,
Exactly what you seem.

Sick, sick, sick.
It's sick, sick, sick.

You made a mess of things,
My, what a mess you've made.
I hate the way you make me feel.
I hate the way you make me...
In your world, it's cold outside,
So button up and open wide.
I hate the way you make me feel sick, sick sick.

If memory serves me correct,
I gave you all and you gave me less.
Your sex-capades deliver checks,
but can't afford you self-respect.
And it's sick, sick, sick!
Humans on their knees,
Living in a fairy tale that's tearing at the seams.
The dank reject, a devil in a dress,
Exactly what you seem.

You made a mess of things,
My, what a mess you've made.
I hate the way you make me feel,
I hate the way you make me...
In your world, it's cold outside,
So button up and open wide.
I hate the way you make me feel sick, sick, sick.

Maybe love is looking for someone to fill those holes.
We grow up building lives with holes in all our walls.
The walls can fall, but here you were with spare bricks to save the day
And we pray it's not too late;
Spare bricks can be deadweight.

Sick, sick, sick.
It's sick, sick, sick.
Sick, sick, sick.
It's sick, sick, sick.

You made a mess of things,
My, what a mess you've made.
I hate the way you make me feel,
I hate the way you make me...
In your world, it's cold outside,
So button up and open wide.
I hate the way you make me feel sick, sick sick.

Cover art for Sick, Sick, Sick lyrics by Bayside

He is basically regretting his marriage and ultimate divorce Verse 1 : He is cursing the person who married them even though it was really his choice and he acknowledges that. The fairytale part is basically like everything doesn't end up happily forever even though some people believe that it does, "devil in a dress" refers to his ex

Chorus: Talking about how his ex makes him sick

Verse 2: Easily understood, he doesn't support her job and it sickens him to think about it

Bridge/Verse 3: We are all looking for someone to complete us, and until they do we are missing something "holes in all our walls" and when we fall down sometimes someone can help us with their "spare bricks" but at the same time these spare bricks weigh us down and don't help us at all, they only help if given to us by someone else. He thought he found someone to complete him, but she just weighed him down instead.

Well sung, but I think he needs some more anger in his voice fer sure :)

My Opinion

I agree with ^. I do think his voice makes sense to not be angry. You have to really hear the words to get it, and I think it was done on purpose. Or maybe it's meant to not sound angry to show how he WAS angry but that now he's over it. I just don't feel Bayside overlooks anything. haha

I absolutely love the metaphor during the bridge

"Maybe love is looking for someone to fill with holes. We grow up building lives with holes in all our walls. The walls can fall, but he who were with spare bricks could save the day. And we pray it's not too late. Spare bricks can be deadweight."

We grow up with holes in our lives and other people are able to fill these holes. If something bad happens though, such as a relationship ending terribly, our walls can fall and more holes form. These holes can be filled though by somebody, but the more holes that have accumulated throughout the years makes it harder to fix. The lover would then have to carry more bricks to fix these extra holes but these extra bricks are a heavy burden to carry.

I think this is obviously about his Marriage/Divorce from the beginning:

"I curse to hell the magistrate who granted this unholy faith"

.......The divorce courts.

"I know I asked for this, myself."

.......When he proposed.

"I'm bound by law to hell"

....When someone gets married, they are brought together as one in the eyes of the law. And obviously, that partnership was hell for him.
