This part is Spencer telling someone that both of them will change for the better, whether it be quiting a drug or something of the sort.

The person he was helping he basically said every time you do it I'm going to as well so that maybe the guilt will help them stop. No matter how long they went without doing whatever it is they slipped up and did it again and there the only ones who realize they have to start over.

They get to the point where they're doing pretty well and have gone quite awhile without doing it. Spencer then reminds the other person hes always watching them and reminds them that he will do it again every time they do.

They do it again and Spencer reflects and realizes how hard it is for them to stop but is pointless. He wanted to share God with this person so they could be stronger and stop as well but he decides to wait until they get to the point where there about to do it again. Once he shares God with them he can finally quit.

Spencer is going to do it again and the other person says I'm going to do it with you. Spencer realizes this would ruin the other persons time without doing it and that its his fault for doing it in the first place not theres so he tells them not to do it and to keep strong. Then he prays to God and asks for help to quit because he alone doesn't have the strength.

He lost to Satan, basically. Spencer is "killing God" which is a very personal decision, which is why no one else is there and why Spencer has to be with God to see him die. "Don't forget my hands around your neck"- It's like he's acknowledging God, but only to say he's done acknowledging God. "Finally get to watch them wash away my name" He gets to see the name of Christ being washed off of him by denying him. "Open your lungs Follow me down I set this off Keep swimming Oh God I am emptier than you" He is killing God, but knows that he is becoming empty, unsatisfied by doing it. He's not going to believe anymore, but not because of lack of effort.

This song is one of my favorites of all time and will stay there for a while... I love the chorus so much.
I'm not exactly sure what the song is about... but it has some straight forward stuff inside there.. it's some kind of story.. picture yourself singing it and you'll find what Spencer means in those words.
