Isolation Lyrics
The best news I've ever heard was when you said you wouldn't leave
because I know the distance would tear us apart.
And all the things you said,
wouldn't mean a thing if you were hear with me,
So as you turn your back to me,
I just want to let you know I would never do this to you.
Let's Go.
This is where our rodes divide and they split in two,
and I will never see you again.
I will never see you again,
But I respect your choice.
The familiar pain sets in again,
And I won't let this bring me down.
It's things like this that made me who I am today.
It's things like this that help to shape/make me who I am today,
It's every hardship I have faced.
And I've lost hope in myself,
but I just want you to know,
As everyday goes by,
Everyday goes by,
As Everyday goes by,
Everyday goes by,
I must accept that you're now living your own life.
because I know the distance would tear us apart.
And all the things you said,
wouldn't mean a thing if you were hear with me,
So as you turn your back to me,
I just want to let you know I would never do this to you.
This is where our rodes divide and they split in two,
and I will never see you again.
I will never see you again,
But I respect your choice.
And I won't let this bring me down.
It's things like this that made me who I am today.
It's things like this that help to shape/make me who I am today,
It's every hardship I have faced.
but I just want you to know,
As everyday goes by,
Everyday goes by,
As Everyday goes by,
Everyday goes by,
I must accept that you're now living your own life.

Amazingly powerful song, one of their best in my opinion. The song is clearly about losing a loved one to distance but also much more complex than that. At the beginning it seems that this loved one says that she/he wouldn't leave, and so the decision to leave comes as a betrayal. The narrator clearly loves this person very much and feels heartbroken that she/he would leave him behind for her/his own future. However, the song is so powerful because the narrator realizes that every event, even this betrayal, has made him stronger for the life he's living. By acknowledging that his loved one is living their own life, he's taking control and living his own life. A very difficult but powerful philosophy, one that he has to cope with as everyday goes by.
I think this song sums up everything that makes Counterparts amazing: youthful, believable passion.
