State Of Our Affairs Lyrics
State Of Our Affairs
Morning … rain
Above the city I live in
Traffic‘s edging forward again
No one knows where they’re going
Could it be the sign of our affairs?
I’m seeing
Cause we’ll still be here
When weather turns, and blue skies reappear
And your crest fall in
Well you climb Mt. Desolation yet again
And you find we’re all just ordinary men.
Find some comfort in the bar
And here the news from my brother
He tore his happiness apart
And says he’s heart won’t recover
Is this just a sign of our affairs?
I’m seeing
Cause we’ll still be here
When weather turns, and blue skies reappear
When your crest fall in
You climb Mt. Desolation yet again
And you find we’re all just ordinary men.

I believe it's "morning wears a veil of rain".
Beautiful song. Perfect to drive through the rain listening to.
Wow, along Departure the best song on the album. The unfortunately isn't as great...
Great song. seems to be about the madness of the world we live in.
crestfallen - 1: having a drooping crest or hanging head 2: feeling shame or humiliation : dejected
The verse, "And you find we’re all just ordinary men," sums up the entire meaning of the song, in my opinion. The song is about the similar pains and glory we all share such as, waiting in traffic, heartbreak, or even "comfort in the bar." The rain mentioned in the beginning of the song already sets the feeling of gloom and depression, but like the singer states, even if the weather clears, we'll all still be here as "ordinary men." Basically, everyone has problems and that's what makes us normal.
At least, that's what I think...
