Never Grow Up Lyrics
Your little hand's wrapped around my finger and it's so quiet in the world tonight.
Your little eyelids flutter 'cause you're dreamin' so I tuck you in, turn on your favorite night light.
To you, everything's funny. You got nothing to regret.
I'd give all I had, honey, if you could stay like that.
Oh, darlin', don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up.
Just stay this little.
Oh, darlin', don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up.
It could stay this simple.
I won't let nobody hurt you.
Won't let no one break your heart.
No one will desert you, just try to never grow up.
Never grow up.
You're in the car on the way to the movies and you're mortified your mom's droppin' you off.
At 14, there's just so much you can't do and you can't wait to move out someday and call your own shots.
But don't make her drop you off around the block; remember that she's getting older too.
And don't lose the way that you dance around in your PJ's, getting ready for school.
Oh, darlin', don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up.
Just stay this little.
Oh, darlin', don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up.
It could stay this simple.
No one's ever burned you.
Nothing's ever left you scarred.
And even though you want to,
just try to never grow up.
Take pictures in your mind of your childhood room.
Memorize what it sounded like when your dad gets home.
Remember the footsteps, remember the words said, and all your little brother's favorite songs.
I just realized everything I have is someday gonna be gone.
So here I am in my new apartment in a big city, they just dropped me off.
It's so much colder than I thought it would be so I tuck myself in and turn my night light on.
Wish I'd never grown up.
I wish I'd never grown up.
Oh, I don't wanna grow up, wish I'd never grown up.
Could still be little.
Oh, I don't wanna grow up, wish I'd never grown up.
It could still be simple.
Oh, darlin', don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up.
Just stay this little.
Oh, darlin', don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up.
Could stay this simple.
Won't let nobody hurt you. Won't let no one break your heart.

This is my favourite from Speak Now its amazing..so Beautiful.x
So much of this describes how I feel now. Being living away from home for a few years now for college and really miss being a kid, and I feel that things are changing to fast.
"I just realized everything I have is someday gonna be gone."
That line really gets me.
This song hits home with me, literally. I lived in the same city for 18 years then 3 years ago I leave my mom to go to college. People who know me well enough know that I try my best to not change things. We feel comfortable with the usual thing and are a little anxious and nervous when changes happens. Things are constantly changing, sometimes faster than we want, but they're happening.
"I just realized everything I have is someday gonna be gone."
I like what IMxSARAHHHx wrote. Seriously though, nowadays I see these young people whining about wanting to be an adult already and complaining how they are getting it hard in society nowadays. Truth is, they have it way easy compared to what I had some 10 years ago. Don't grow up too fast, part of who you are is who you made yourself to be in your adolescent years and wanting to skip ahead seems like you haven;t truly discovered yourself just yet. You've got your whole life to be an adult, so cherish what you got now before it's too late.
"Won't let nobody hurt you. Won't let no one break your heart. And even though you want to, please try to never grow up"
I always say that I'm growing up while staying young forever :)
I think this song is to Taylor's younger sister Claire. She said in her album title that every one of her songs was directed to someone in her life. She says "At 14 there's just so much..." Claire is 14 years old so it makes sense that the song is for her.

Not enough words to describe how beautiful it is. I love that Taylor's music is targeted at people from age 5 to 50, because the youngster might understand the message behind it -- that is, enjoy being a child and innocent, and let your parents take care of you. You might miss it when you're older and don't forget you have the rest of your life to be a grown up with all the responsibilities and problems that come with it.
Lastly, this song reminds me of a French expression that says: "Si jeunesse savait et si vieillesse pouvait" which loosely translates has: "if youngsters knew and if elders could".
Taylor Swift is a great songwriter. I love how she is an open book about her real life experiences. It's so well written. I can't wait to hear the materials she will write in the future (finding long-lasting love, marriage, kids). Whatever she writes about it's going to be great.
I told my daughter tonight that this is our song... it makes me cry I relate to it so much. I really wish my 3 year old would never grow up so I could protect her forever.
Such a cute song <3 It makes me want to cry because it's so true. It's basically a message to her young fans, don't grow up too fast because once you do you'll regret letting your childhood pass you by.
I've had this on repeat for the last half hour and haven't stopped crying in that time. It switches from an imploring message to her little brother/her younger fans to appreciate their childhood to focusing on her own longing for her childhood back. I really wish I'd never grown up too, and never had my heart broken or been otherwise hurt. The line about Dad coming home breaks my heart. I try and remember every day how it felt to give my dad a hug when he got in and the smell of his suit; now I'm seventeen and would give anything to go back to when my only worry was being called a nerd in class. I took so much for granted and wanted more than anything to grow up and live my own life, and now I'm preparing to go to college and leave it all behind forever. Taylor has a gift of capturing what everybody feels and making it so beautiful you cry.
I'm 12, but this song still makes me cry, cuz I just realized everything I have is someday gonna be gone. its so sad.

This song was beautiful. It's one of my favorites from Speak Now. I almost cried the first time I heard i1 â¤
This song does make me teary. It's just so true. Youre a kid and all you wanna be is older, but now that im older, all i wanna be is a little kid again. All you have now are memories that you dont ever wanna forget! Taylor is a fantastic song writer. This is definitely her best album yet. :)
I'm a mom, and this song made me cry my eyes out. My son is only 3 months so I really get the part about staying that little. Every word of the song is so true. It makes me cry thinking he will have to grow up :( I love this song! It's so beautiful!
