MCMXIV Lyrics

July 1914
Cornered in a crowded scene
We crawled from our western front
Where they sewed and stitched us up
Overland we built a place
where we can come together and sing together and sing together now

Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Woah, woah, oh
Woah, woah, oh, oh

Our shore-worn souls worn thin
Bodies moved in rhythmic sin
Your marquee lit our way
We watched and dreamt through the day
Salvation came through a place
where we come together and sing together and sing together now

Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Woah, woah, oh
Woah, woah, oh, oh

She'll keep her light on
I won't sleep till she's gone down
She'll keep her light on
And we'll sing her swan song, oh

Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Every time we meet
I wanna sing and dance, I wanna sing and dance, I wanna
Woah, woah, oh
Woah, woah, oh, oh

Cover art for MCMXIV lyrics by Archeology

I know WWI started this year. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this song, but it seems like the first part is talking about the United States (western front) getting involved in the war which was fought in Europe (crowded scene-- i.e. high tensions and close proximity of nations)

The title is just roman numerals for 1914.

I still have no idea what this song is about.
