he's completely falling for this girl and he's iffy to give his full self to her because he's scared of falling madly in love with her and then him getting hurt.
This song is so sweet. He's trying to explain that he really likes/lives this gal but he is afraid to let himself fall in love with her because then he'll become "putty". =).
