This song is the greatest song to describe what I felt when my daughter can into the world and how prespectives changed and how greatfull for my new outlook I am.

I think it's about his wife rather than his daughter. He says "I promise I will be there for you baby/I never wanna leave you anyway" and "With hope you will always be my best friend" To me, those lines sound more to a significant rather than a child.
