Come On Sister Lyrics
It's six in the morning
The men started working
I can't sleep, no I can't sleep
I keep feeling the light
So I think I should get up
And call you, going to find you
And it's fun, thinking of you
Like a movie star
And it's dumb, thinking of you
Like the way that you were
Everyone loves you
The boy in the corner
The postman the policeman
It does me no good to keep looking ahead
To your future adoration
And it's fun, thinking of you
Like a movie star
And it's dumb, thinking of you
Like the way that you were
Every moment like a sudden pleasure
Every moment that will get you by
And it's going to cause a crisis
Might just lose a little faith
I've seen all kinds of strangers
The rich and the famous
They don't count, no they don't count
Now I'm back on my beat
On the same greasy street
There's an angel on my shoulder
Saying, ho!
Have you ever said an honest word?
Saying, yo!
Have you ever said a pretty word?
Every moment like a sudden pleasure
Every moment that will get you by
And it's going to cause a crisis
Might just lose a little faith
If you touch me you could never go back
Faith
Come on sister, have a drink
Have a seat at the bar
Tell me all about your men and your
Hopes and the hours of your life
You could love
After all that's what you're looking for
You can love
It's a currency unspoken of
But it's hard to form a good opinion
If you're going to look at me that way
And it's going to cause a crisis
Might just lose a little faith
Don't touch me if you touch me
You can never go back
Faith
Come on sister, have a drink
Have a seat at the bar
Tell me all about your men and your
Hopes and the hours of your life
The men started working

In my interpretation this song is on the perspective of a girl that envys the life that Stuart takes now, after sucess. She thinks of him "like a movie star" but in the same way remembers on what he "were" when they used to be friends and can´t realize how he is so important now.
All this comparison doesn´t let she sleep well. She wants to be like Stuart, with everyone around loving what she does: the boy in the corner, the postman, the policeman. It does him "no good".
But, on her daily routine she doesn´t like what she sees: Now I'm back on my beat/On the same greasy street.
In the end the second part of the song Stuart tries to get closer to the girl and understand why she feel that way.
So, that´s it! Let comment about this beautifull song on this beatifull new album!
Sorry, " it does her no good"..

I think this song is about adoring someone and looking at them as if they are more human, and then being sorely disappointed. Just a thought.

It's like "Dress Up in You," but not as subtle. Catchy, though.
I see it as the speaker just being totally underwhelmed with reality; his partner, the general mundaneness of every day life.
To get him through the day, he looks at life as if it's something from a movie. He looks for something/someone to keep his mind stimulated...
Every moment like a sudden pleasure Every moment that will get you by
He knows it's useless to think about things as they really are, because reality is so damn plain compared to what we want it to be.
The speaker is interested in the lives of others; it's another form of escapism from wallowing in his own being.
I can relate to this song a lot.
