Summer '78 (ft. Claire Pichet) Lyrics

Where are you now
Can't you see me
Where are you now
Can't you hear me

Falling, trying
Searching, losing (x2)

Where is this land
We've built for us
Where are these streets
We've built for us

When I am laid
In Earth (x2)
Can't you be here
Near me (x2)

When I am laid
In Earth (x2)
Can't you hold me (x2)

Her vocals in this song are so haunting, it literally freaks me out to listen to this song, but it's beautiful nonetheless. The lyrics clearly hint at a person who has lost their loved one and their home, preoccupied with death and thoughts of their loved one. It's terribly sad. They don't want to be alone when they're dead and buried, even wishing that the person they love could be buried with them, giving up their own life. The situation can be applied to a lot of tragic historical events, such as the Holocaust or, especially, Hiroshima, but it could also fit into more prosaic situations, such everything in your life changing and becoming unrecognizable.
