I have been searching for your touch
Unlike any touch I've ever known

And I never thought about you much
Till I'm broken down and all alone

No I don't understand the meaning of love
I do not mind if I die trying, oh

Took you for granted
When you lifted me up

I'm asking for your help
I am going through hell
Afraid nothing can save me
But the sound of your voice

You cut out all the noise
And now that I can see mistakes so clearly, now
I'd kill if I could take you back
But how?
But how?

I can feel it in my guts
What's going on with him now

Don't patronize me with lies
I'ma man, be a woman now

I have been bound by the shackles of love
And I don't mind if I die tied up

Took you for granted
When you lifted me up

I'm asking for your help
I am going through hell
Afraid nothing can save me
But the sound of your voice

You cut out all the noise
And now that I can see mistakes so clearly now
I'd kill if I could take you back
But how?
But how?
But how?
But how?

Why must we be so ugly
And please do not speak ill of me
Why does the one you love
Become the one who makes you want to cry

And why?
Why?
Why?

No I don't understand the meaning of love
I do not mind if I die trying
I do not mind if I die trying
I do not mind if I die trying

    My Interpretation

I have always been a fan of Maroon 5 but it's been a few years since I've listened to them. I've been having some major issues lately, however, and turned to their music to help me through it. I heard this song and it really hit home. I started listening to it a lot and finally had to look up all the lyrics. When I did, the resemblance to what I was going through was uncanny, I mean like word for word my issues. This may just be my opinion but I don't see how it can be taken any other way. Here goes:

I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR YOUR TOUCH/ UNLIKE ANY TOUCH I’VE EVER KNOWN/

He misses his wife/girlfriend's touch. They might be separated or possibly just fighting but he longs so badly to touch her or be touched by her.

AND I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT YOU MUCH ‘TIL I’M BROKEN DOWN AND ALL ALONE —

He didn't treat her well enough/pay enough attention to her until it was too late, now he wishes he had.

THOUGH I DON’T UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF LOVE I DO NOT MIND IF I DIE TRYING/

Though he loved her deeply he wasn't good at showing or expressing it, but now he's willing to die to try to learn and make it right between them.

TOOK IT FOR GRANTED WHEN YOU LIFTED ME UP —

About the same as I was saying earlier, he regrets that he didn't show his appreciation more.

I’M ASKING FOR YOUR HELP, I AM GOING THROUGH HELL/ AFRAID NOTHING CAN SAVE ME BUT THE SOUND OF YOUR VOICE/

He's very torn up, afraid he'll lose her for good. He's in such a bad place the only way he feels he can find his way out is with her.

YOU CUT OUT ALL THE NOISE/

Life was far better with her in it.

AND NOW THAT I CAN SEE MISTAKES SO CLEARLY NOW/

He realized everything he did wrong.

I’D KILL IF I COULD TAKE YOU BACK — BUT HOW/ BUT HOW/

    Pretty self-explanatory.

I CAN FEEL IT IN MY BONES WHAT’S GOING ON WITH HIM NOW/

Here's where it gets pretty crummy. Because he neglected her, didn't pay enough attention to her, didn't show her daily how much he really loves her, she had to go elsewhere to feel needed. She began an affair with another man. He hasn't got proof but he's pretty sure it's happening.

DON’T PATRONIZE ME WITH LIES, I’M A MAN, BE A WOMAN NOW —

She denies the affair is happening, he tells her to man up (or woman up, in this case... Great line Adam!) and just admit it.

I HAVE BEEN BOUND BY THE SHACKLES OF LOVE/ AND I DON’T MIND IF I DIE TIED UP —

He's so in love with her even still that he feels shackled to her. Can't live without her.

TOOK IT FOR GRANTED WHEN YOU LIFTED ME UP — I’M ASKING FOR YOUR HELP, I AM GOING THROUGH HELL/ AFRAID NOTHING CAN SAVE ME BUT THE SOUND OF YOUR VOICE/ YOU CUT OUT ALL THE NOISE/ AND NOW THAT I CAN SEE MISTAKES SO CLEARLY NOW/ I’D KILL IF I COULD TAKE YOU BACK — BUT HOW/ BUT HOW —

    All explained already.

WHY MUST WE BE SO UGLY/

They've become so hurt and angry at each other that they can no longer communicate effectively. They always fight, misunderstand what the other means, escalate and say horrible things that they can't take back.

PLEASE DO NOT THINK ILL OF ME/

He wants her to believe him when he says she takes the things he says the wrong way. She always hears the negative in anything he says vice the positive that he really meant.

WHY DOES THE ONE YOU LOVE BECOME THE ONE WHO MAKES YOU WANT TO — CRY/CRY/CRY —

Pretty self-explanatory. I'm sure he knows the answer but here it is anyways: only the ones we love so deeply, give all of our heart and soul to, are the ones who are able to hurt us so badly when they say nasty things meant to hurt us. If anyone else told us the same things, we'd punch them in the face and forget all about it but when our true love says it to us it just rips us apart.

THOUGH I DON’T UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF LOVE I DO NOT MIND IF I DIE TRYING.

Same as before but maybe a little more. Of a hint of an "I can't (or maybe even won't) live without you.

As I said, just my interpretation but I couldn't see it any other way if I tried. It helps my situation to listen to it, mainly because misery loves company. I can so relate and in a strange way, it feels a bit good to know that others have been through similar situations and felt the same way.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
