The Messenger Lyrics

When you feel you're alone
Cut off from this cruel world
Your instincts telling you to run

Listen to your heart
Those angel voices
They'll see you to you
They'll be your guide
Back home where life leaves us blind
Love keeps us kind
It keeps us kind

When you suffered it all
And your spirit is breaking
You're growing desperate from the fight
Remember you're loved
And you always will be
This melody will always bring
You right back home

When life leaves us blind
Love, keeps us kind
When life leaves us blind
Love keeps us kind

Oh oh
Oh oh
Oh oh

This is one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life. I can't listen to it without getting goosebumps. Like someone else said the intensity and raw emotion in Chester's voice is incredible. That intensity on a primarily acoustic track is just phenomenal. A lot of singers could learn a lesson from this song. This is true emotion. I'd be amazed if he said he didn't cry while recording his vocals.

really, I think after a whole album about the causes, effects, and ultimate destruction and horrific reality of war, "The Messenger" is a sign of hope. A song for how if we treat each other with kindness and respect, and do not get upset over useless things and resort to violence as a way of life, that people can live in peace. If we take the blindfold off when life leaves us blind, Love will keep us kind. That is the message. This is "The Messenger." To let us know that catastrophes of war CAN be prevented.

HAAAA your all retarded. This song is awesome. I never knew he had a beautiful singing voice until this song. You can tell he is singing with all he has.. hes practically yelling at the top of his lungs but turning it into beautiful music. This song and every other song on the album gets me motivated like hell. Linkin Park is now one of my favorite bands thanks to the pure power of this album, I hope they continue to make music like this.

@dannyping, agreed, but I could do without the accusations of being r*****ed

You're absolutely right. I made this comment in 2010 when I was a much more immature, and judgemental person. 11 years ago. If I could edit this comment I would. I apologize.

linkin park has outdone themselves on this one!

I completely agree! Chester's voice has so much power behind it any ways, but in this song it seems like he's putting every single ounce of strength into each word. Truly amazing, and every time I hear it I tear up at least a little. Great ending to a great album.

This song is a brilliant ending for this album. I love the feeling of love and hope that is sums everything up with.

And I completely agree with Callum - Chester's voice is totally laid bare and he's doing what he does best. It's great.

I don't know if most look at this album as being a story, but I like to look at it that way. I kind of look at this as a soldier sending a message home to the soldier's wife/girlfriend, maybe he died, or maybe he is just telling his wife/girlfriend to be strong. That's just my look at this, it could mean anything, and I could be way off.

I agree with your general idea, but actually think it's the opposite.. I see it as someone talking to the soldier and telling them that while they're fighting and killing and not being able to show love and compassion etc and seeing all the sadness and devestation that war entails (the 'breaking spirit').. Remembering their loved ones at home will give them the strength to push through and make it home either literally or in their mind.

Because life often leaves us blind to what's going on in places overseas where there is war, being home makes it easier for...
