I think it is about growing up and thinking of your parents' love in hard times.
The first verse of the song is like someone is feeling a bit tired (of her life?), and in doubt of herself. Then, she asked herself "Am I too far from home?Am I really all alone?" Starting from the second verse to "find out what matters" in the third verse is that she remembers what her parents had taught her. It makes her feel emotional after thinking of it. The part ,"I know your heart's been broken", is a bridge to make the last part stands out, which is the emotional outburst. And, the last part is that her thoughts on her parents are more intense as if her parents are there "Your mama's, your papa's here".
I always play this when I'm feeling down...
"The world is yours, carry this torch, and use your voice..."
"All of us who turned into you, we're sure hoping that you pull on through..."
Shes saying that you should never give up, no matter how much people put you down. That their are always people out there to help you.
I think this song has a lot to do with how hard it is to become successful in the music world and leave behind your midwestern roots. It has a lot of rural colloquialisms that seem to be her relatives or friends from back home in Illinois trying to offer her advice as she leaves behind her home to try and go get something that they don't really understand and have never experienced. But she knows their hearts are in the right place.
