Nothing Left To Lose Lyrics
I was only nineteen you were twenty nine
It's just ten years, but it's such a long time
In a heartbeat, I would do it all again
Late night sex, smoking cigarettes
I try real hard but I can't forget
Now in a heartbeat, I would do it all again
And now I see that you and me were never meant
Never meant to be now, now I'm lost somewhere
Lost between Elvis and suicide
Ever since the day we died
Well I've got nothing left to lose
After Jesus and rock n roll
Couldn't save my immoral soul
Well I've got nothing left
I've got nothing left to lose
Calling out sins just to pass the time
But life goes by in the blink of an eye
I know you want me, I was only looking for a friend
And everything that I was
And everything that I've become
Just falls into the end and
Now I see that you and me were never meant
Were never meant to be now, now I'm lost somewhere
Lost between Elvis and suicide
Ever since the day we died
Well I've got nothing left to lose
After Jesus and rock n roll
Couldn't save my immoral soul
Well I've got nothing left
I've got nothing left to lose
And now I see that you and me were never meant
Never meant to be now, now I'm lost somewhere
Lost between Elvis and suicide

The meaning of this song is IMO pretty obvious in the lyrics: she's lost everything and therefore has nothing left to lose to do whatever she wants.
My fave! :) ... dealing w/ a break up, feeling depressed..

I'm not sure if this song can be about herself when Taylor is only 17 years old as of right now.
She only co-wrote some songs on the album which is still cool but, it could be someone else's story. If I remember right the other singer (the guitarist) helped her write the album.
So does anyone know?
In the booklet of the album it says: "All songs written by Taylor Momsen, Ben Phillips, Kato Khandwala.". Phillips and Khandwala both played guitar on the record and Khandwala did a lot of other things too (bass, percussion, programming, etc).

I think that this song is about a friends with benefits relationship hint late night sex and smokin cigarettes and also the part where she says I was only lookin for a friend. Its about her falling for him but him not wanting more.

Why do you do crap like that? I hope it's one of those situations that after it leaves your mouth (rather hits the keyboard) you wish you could retract it:)

It's about two people not meant to be together. She wanted him. He didn't want her. Good song.
