Mirror of Venus Lyrics

A mirror of Venus, that you are!
But I have never seen your face.
A Mariner carried by a star
with no regard for time or place.

'The Architecture of Regret'
now there is a book I'd never write.
But here I've built minaret
and from it I'm calling out tonight...

I'll go wherever you go, mirror of
I'll go wherever you go, mirror of
I'll go wherever you go, mirror of Venus.

I'll go wherever you go, mirror of
I'll go wherever you go, mirror of
I'll go wherever you go, mirror of Venus.

Although the "Mirror Of Venus" is the sign of the woman (circle with the plus under it), a song about a woman does not fit the theme of this album. I think the mirror of Venus in this song is the Earth, since it is called the sister planet of Venus. This song is about being stuck on Earth and trying to reach out to space. Boom, nailed it!

My Interpretation

I think its just a simple song about a girl who he adores but may have never met.
Although Venus is extremely hot and hostile so it could be about a girl he has met but she is very hot tempered and hostile and he just wants to make it work?

Perhaps. I wonder if this girls' changed her ways?

That's kind of one of my theories, thedreadedmarco.

I also think it could mean that this girl almost doesn't seem real because she's like a reflection of Venus? Like she's not completely herself, but he loves her anyway and she's so mysterious that he wants to go wherever she does--find out more about her, help her along.

I don't know. This is just my rambling.

Then again, I assumed he was making a reference to Venus, the love goddess--Aphrodite's Roman parallel.

Looking at a planetarium program, the planet Mercury seems to be right beside Venus, hence giving it the name Mirror of Venus??

I agree with you 100% maxi17 when you mention "Like she's not completely herself, but he loves her anyway and she's so mysterious that he wants to go wherever she does--find out more about her, help her along." it makes me think of the song Anna Molly too, a girl who may or may not exist in real life.
