A guy is confiding in to his best childhood friend/former girlfriend w/benefits He's getting married and wants her approval/opinion She can't tell him how she really feels hence the lines "at your drowning" "at your libation" referring to the expected drunkenness to follow the after wedding ceremony

She knows something about her but can't tell him cause he wouldn't believe her that is what the last verse is about She knows everyone would think she was just being a past jealous/jilted lover It is sung from this place of sadness....

First of all, what a wonderful song :)

I think this song is about a girl, who has a casual relationship with a guy, but she is already secretly in love with him. She is not contented since they can’t be more than what they are now (maybe the guy is permanently with another girl). She is deeply hurt, but still chooses to live like this because it’s the only way she could be with the one she loves.

Their relationship is compared to the glow in the dark stars on the ceiling. The girl thinks that her desire is unreachable, just like those stars. However, to the guy, their affair is just like the habitual gesture of looking at those stars before going to sleep.

I’m really not sure about the meaning, but this is how I see it.

This was the song Warpaint opened with when I saw them live in Toronto last year. Right after a throwaway comment by Theresa, I think, that she had a roach stuck to her shoe. Anyways, that's the meaning of the song: this is their ode to the joint. Think about it: "glow in the darkness" "put you to sleep after". They're describing a late-night bake session.

I think this song creates the image of those glow in the dark stars that every little kid ever has on their walls and ceilings; i mean they glow, they're on a ceiling, and they put kids to sleep. I didnt realize there were so few lyrics when listening to it, great song writing!

The first line always make me think of twinkle twinkle little star but maybe that's just me...

I know this probably doesn't make sense at all, but I feel like they are talking about fake people surrounding you, and how you're a cool person and should try to remain real.

I think some of these interpretations are correct in stating that this is about a clandestine romance, but they're wrong about what kind of clandestine romance. This is a song about being queer and closeted and in a relationship.

"Glow" as in that kind of glow when people get in relationships. They are not allowed to "glow" in the "light", or in the public eye. They can only glow in the dark, where they're hidden. The stars that "put you to sleep after", I'm assuming are putting the partner to sleep after sex. This line sort of indicates that they're in a serious enough relationship to be sleeping next to each other or having sex or both.

"Oh wonderful one why are you like that?" Perhaps the vocalist is asking her girlfriend why she's not being open about their relationship, perhaps indicative of a desire to be open with their friends and family about their relationship.

"Cause here We are Apart but not Again And again" They're together in a relationship, in love, but they're apart in front of their family and friends. They're apart in public. They can't openly show love to each other.

"Let me show" Basically, "let me be open about us"

"And in the end they ask you for Your reply Don't you tell them What you found out There's time" Perhaps a family member or friend asking the partner in this scenario "are you gay/bi/etc.?" They want her reply. "Don't you tell them what you found out. There's time." She can stay closeted if she chooses, even though she's found at that she's into women. But if she lets it out in the open, then there's no turning back.
