This song has alot of personal meaning to me. I trusted someone i shouldnt have and she turned around and blabbed about what i told her. I was almost expelled from my school because of it and she had the gall to lie and pretend like she didnt do anythin wrong. Luckily i was able to clear it up and had some REAL friends to back me up on it. I dropped her out of my life and now i dont even acknowledge her existence. Funny part is that i had been helpin her through some of her issues and i thought we actually had something. Well suffice to say she is slowly destroying herself from the inside now and i could care less. Shes dead to me now because i can see exactly who she is
"This is a song about being betrayed by your best friend. It has some personal reflection based on some unfortunate choices friends of the band and some of my friends have made during the past year. But the song is not just angry–it's almost as if I was writing it trying to explain to someone that there was no reason to have betrayed me or the band, because I was willing to do whatever it took to be there for them. Our friend Dave Stephens from We Came As Romans was the perfect choice to do guest vocals on this song, and he added in his own flavor to the subject. “The Wretched” is packed with group vocals, heavy verses, choruses that make you want to jump and a breakdown that will rival most. It’s definitely a drummer’s favorite."

First, let me just say the TWA is sick. I saw them live with Underoath, A Day To Remember, and Close Your Eyes.
Next, This song is obviously (well, obvious to me anyways) that this song is about being betrayed by someone you care about and/or love. "I thought i knew you now you can't save your name(we won't follow the deciever) Don't try to silence my words with your lies (we won't follow the deciever). This is what i expected, another life lesson is what i'm left with, Look at what you've started, a war of words is what we'll part with." basically pushes the point that he now sees that he/she is a horrible person, and now his image of him/her will never change. And now he tells everyone about him/her and he/she tries to cover their tracks to make them look innocent. And after all he/she put him through, he will take this as a learning experience. And all he/she has started is a huge verbal fight between eachother. And the (We won't follow the deciever) is him saying i will never end up like you. It's a powerful song once you understand the full meaning behind the lyrics.
