While You Were Sleeping

This is a great song. Some people can relate to it.

Basically, it's about a girl and her boyfriend being miles away from each other. She can't handle being alone anymore and that she's moved on because she doesn't want to be far away from someone.

-Meaning that she's away from her boyfriend in a different city. She loves her boyfriend very much, but she doesn't remember the "feeling" of their relationship. The part about the "dirty seeds" is that she's having doubts and questions about their relationship. She can't stop having doubts and it gets worse everyday.

"While you were sleeping I was wondering with a lonely people While you were sleeping Trying to fill the void you've left Life is short and the nights are long And tonight, I moved on While you were sleeping"

-While he was in the other city being away from her, she walks around feeling his absence and the loneliness around her. She hung at bars or went to restaurants without him, making her feel like she was single. She meant that life is too short to spend waiting for someone to come back home and that every night was long because he wasn't there to comfort and love her. So that night, she decided that she had a life to live and she wanted to move one. The "while you were sleeping" part was a unique way of saying while you were in the other city/state. Kesha does tend writes her songs uniquely.

-She finds someone to sleep with because of her loneliness getting to her. Because she doesn't want to wake up alone without someone next to her. So she substitutes him for some stranger so she doesn't wake up alone. But when she wakes up, she realizes it's not the same to waking up with her boyfriend there. So it kills her that she's alone without him there and she can't replace him because she loves him.

"Don't look for me Don't wait for me I've found my path (while you were sleeping) Over sticks and stones Over broken bones I won't look back (while you were sleeping) There's a place for you somewhere in my heart But that's the past"

-This meaning that she doesn't want him to drop everything just to be with her. She found a way to live without him, meaning she's trying to get over him. She promises to do everything to get over him, so she doesn't have to look back and regret her choice. She also says that she has a special place in her heart for him. That she'll always love him, but it's just history at that point.

So it's about how she wants to end a long distance relationship because she can't handle being far away from her boyfriend.
