Sacred Worlds Lyrics
It suffers
Old and weak
There is war at hand
The system's failing
Engine's running
These lunatics deny the truth
There'll be
It's now or never
We shall stand together
One by one
This world is sacred
I'm coming home
War
It's now or never
We shall stand together
One by one
This world is sacred
I'm coming home
You will be on your own
On your own
I'll be alone in this hour
I face the unknown
Witness the end
Here in my final hour
When long lost memories return
And a voice keeps calling
All dead and gone
It's out of hand
Life is in motion
I'm wishing, I'm fading
Time to wake up
Face the truth
There's no doubt and no regret
Time to reveal now
It is real
Carry on the flame
It's not over now
Watch me I will rise
Time to reveal now
Anymore
All that really matters
Blessed realm
This world is sacred
War
It's now or never
We shall stand together
One by one
This world is sacred
I'm coming home
There's no today, no tomorrow
I'm raised from the dead
The ritual failed
I'm left alone in this hour
Driven insane
I am left alone
While the golden hall is sealed
I'm wishing, I'm fading
And I am part of the machine
And feel the unholy stream
The source of my power, T-energy
I'm in control
All that really matters
I'm the one
This world is sacred
I'm coming home
War
It's now or never
We shall stand together
One by one
This world is sacred
I'm coming home
But I keep on falling
I should have known
I can see it coming
The war is over
There's whispering in the wind
Just let me out of here
There is no way
There is no end
While all the suffering goes on
All that I know
Is that I'm not insane
It's not over

This song is an updates version of "Sacred" with added orchestral intro, which was originally written for the video game Sacred 2: Fallen Angel. The game is based a war being fought to control a volatile substance that is the source of life and magic. The material is out of control, causing mutations and destruction. You can choose a campaign to either try and heal the land, or further the chaos.

For the lyrics,
"My eyes are the eyes of a dead man And feel the unholy stream The source of my power, T-energy I'm in control"
The T-Energy is from the game that this song was made for,
"A mysterious and volatile substance called T-Energy is the source of all life and magic in Ancaria. The world Sacred 2, Fallen Angel is based in"
And I also found this; "Video game designer Bob Bates has been involved in its production, the game also includes a video sequence with the power metal band Blind Guardian, who also made a theme song for the game."

It's actually "Blessed ground, this world is Sacred."
A great theme song for Sacred 2.

These are my educated guess at corrections:
Line 2: "there is war at hand" Line 4: "After all I think the end is dawning (or starting?)" Line 6-7: "there'll be ... war it's now or never, we shall stand together"
Regime may or may not be "machine"
I'm too lazy to look up the full version.
That being said, this song is bloody amazing and I love it. One of Blind Guardian's best to date.

This song reminds me of my D&D party (I was the DM). I can almost see the faces of the players fighting, it's so passionate.

It seems to me like it's another song about the book OTHERLAND, by Tad Williams. I haven't finished reading the book yet, but the lyrics about the system failing might be the "hick-ups" in the Otherland system. The war could be the Circle fighting against the Grail Brotherhood. "When long lost memories return And a voice keeps calling" sounds like when Paul begins to remember who he is and starts to learn about the system from the voice of a bird woman who calls to him in his dreams. There are more examples I could use that correspond with the book, but I'll just stop there.
If you're a science fiction fan I highly recommend the book; it could keep you busy forever - four books: 3 books are 700 pages long and the last one 1,000. I'm just starting the third. XD
Yeah, I take this back... I finished the book a few months ago... It has nothing to do with Otherland...

I knew this was from Sacred 2, which I've never played. But it seemed like it hinted at a specific plot, and today I got curious. It looks like it fits the background story of one of the playable characters, the Shadow Warrior. He fought valiantly in the war and died. But then he was torn out of the peace of death and resurrected against his will using T-Energy. The ritual failed, the caster couldn't control him and he broke free. But he can't die or he would be lost in limbo. The player can choose whether his goal is to destroy the Great Machine so he can die and return to Elysium, or whether he will use it for immortality and revenge.
This seems to fit the song very well. Like I said, I haven't played it, so if I got anything wrong about it I'd be interested to know. It's an epic song in any case.
