Rest easily,
In the bed of another man's tired old queen.
I cannot wait for love
If it comes as fast as he did.
Rest easily,
In the bed of another man's tired old queen.
I cannot wait for love
But if it's coming as fast as he did, well, shit
That's two minutes well-spent
That she spent with him
So stay home
In bed alone
All because of you, all because of you,
Now I can't stand it.
In all that I do, all that I do,
I see the scarlet branding.
Mother, you know I'm sorry,
But sorry's pregnant with remorse
And when remorse is born, remorse won't see
An ounce of child support.
She won't, no, she won't no, she won't.
She won't
She
Go ahead
No wait
Wait
Ok go ahead
Wait eagerly,
Because tonight I'm another man's brand new queen
Why should I wait for love,
If it comes as fast as he did?
He said, "Wait, she's with me
So send that other man walking
With his two left feet"
Now I hate my love
And now the other man's floating in the dead man's sea
And he's floating face-down, 'cause he's a dead man, see?
So stay home
In bed alone
All because of you, all because of you,
Now I can't stand it.
In all that I do, all that I do,
I see the scarlet branding.
Mother, you know I'm sorry,
But sorry's pregnant with remorse
And when remorse is born, remorse won't see
An ounce of child support.
She won't, no, she won't, no
No, she will not.
Don't you cry mama, we'll,
We'll be okay.
In the bed of another man's tired old queen.
I cannot wait for love
If it comes as fast as he did.
In the bed of another man's tired old queen.
I cannot wait for love
But if it's coming as fast as he did, well, shit

First off, this song is incredible to me. The first time I heard it blew me away. The song puts a crazy amount of emotion into the story, which seems pretty straight forward. A lady was already in a relationship when she found new love coming fast then ended horribly with a mistaken child. Sometimes I get confused about who's saying what in the song. I think that in the end when he sings "Don't you cry mama, we'll be ok.", it's the child telling the mother everything will be okay when it's really not. It's quite a sad image and the piano riff to me compliments the irony. I'm sure there's more to the song but that's all I've got.
Could it be that Jason is the child of this unfortunate event?
It was about his Muther he talks about it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gunzFF261vw&feature=related

I seen them last night and he was speaking to his (check link in first reply) Muther before the song started and it explained that she had been told she couldn't have children because of her illness.

This song is emotional, but wait till you see it live. I was lucky enough to sing 'Don't you cry mama, we'll, we'll be ok' with JB which was mind-blowing

I recently saw these guys and Jason gave a small talk on certain points in his life which has impacted on him majorly and i believe that in this song he is talking about the time when he caught his mother in bed with another man.
His father had died earlier in his life hence why these events took place, very good song and an amazing yet intense life he has lived so far.

It's about the fact his mother slept with some other dude whilst his dad was in prison. His dad is still alive.

I heard this song was about Jason's mother sleeping with another man while his father was in prison and how Jason couln't forgive her for it. Also his father was a famous jazz musician, hence the jazzy slowdown towards the end of the song.
From Jason Butler in an interview about what the song "Muther" means to him: "It’s simply about a very clear human quality which is fucking up and being very vulnerable but being cast in iron. We’re supposed to remain strong which lends itself to being stagnant. There’s people in life that will falter and fail and it’s a strange obscure way of saying love is much more than face value. It’s about understanding people for what they are. Not what they’ve done but what they can be."
From Jason on this song: ""The Scarlet Letter" meets modern America's marital statistics coupled with the wonderful world of neo family structure or what many believe to be a complete lack thereof. No matter how great the indiscretion, you must remember, we as humans will err. Just as the clichéd maxim put it, we must also learn from these indiscretions. Exercise an effort to understand- and continue forward. This is how we will become better humans. Emotion with tinges of logic, such a beautiful paradox. Oh, it's also about my mom... and some idiot that was not my father"
Jason Allon Alexander Butler! is an amazing artist, all the way around. His lyrics are incredible, his voice is that of an Angel, with the scream of a devil at the same time. He sings right to my soul, and I love him. All of his bands, are great, as well, LETLIVE, THE FEVER 333, and PRESSURE CRACKS! are all great, great bands, in my opinion.. He's just an amazing artist, and person..... that is all. Lol.
