This song was actually supposed to me about M. Shadows grandfather, then Jimmy died, and then they made it for him.

in a video on youtube, m. shadows and johnny christ say that synyster gates wrote this whole song by himself after jimmy died. this was syn's way of saying goodbye to his friend. the video is right here

He originally wrote it about his grandfather, and they had a demo done while Jimmy was still alive. I'm pretty sure that I heard Syn say something about getting drunk with The Rev and crying listening to the demo version of this song. When The Rev died, it became about him, with some slightly different lyrics, and Syn said that it was amazing that Jimmy was able to hear his own tribute song, and like the song so much. It's like people always say with tributes- "He/she would be proud if they could see this now", well he was proud,...

This song is totally for Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan, and Synyster Gates did a marvelous job with it. Anyone that says this song sucks, should go through the same thing as Synyster Gates did, and feel the exact same pain that he felt.

The song was written with Jimmy in mind... in the interview on youtube about the song they didn't say that it was directly to him.. but it was made in honor of him.. M Shadows said that its a song about just a guy.. and his guitar, talking to somebody close to them they had lost.. its an excellent song. Probably one of the best ones they have produced. I hate when artists will release songs they can't apply for everyone, Rock is so much more meaningful than that other crap out there, anybody can take this one to heart. A7X once again, has out done themselves.

This song is great i cant really relate to what this guys went through cause thankfully ive never lost anyone in my life but just thinking about makes my skin scrawl so its great that they made this song cause now other people know that its ok to question everything that going on ina situations like this. I love the way m.shadows sings really soft at the beginning and as the song goes on he really lets his anger show in his voice.
i know the song is about jimmy or whoever passe away.but it can be interpreted as something differently.like when he says will you stay away forever.if i didn't know the song was about a deceased person i would say it's about being free of a relationship.place and time always on my mind....will you stay away forever
