The Fall Lyrics
One foot in front of the other. Fall in line. One foot in front of the other.
Since day one this has been damned. We blindly follow anything that we're shown.
Open your eyes. This is a lie. Open your eyes. We're all living a lie.
Maybe we're the same. (We're not the same. We're not the same.) No, but I despise you.
(No, I despise you.) I know I'm nothing like you. (I'm nothing like you.)
One foot in front of the other. Fall in line. One foot in front of the other.
Since day one I knew this was wrong. I'm no puppet, I dance for no one.
Open my eyes. Open my eyes. Open my eyes. I refuse to live a lie.
Maybe we're the same. (We're not the same. We're not the same.) No, but I despise you.
(No, I despise you.) I know I'm nothing like you. (I don't wanna be anything like you.)
I refuse to fall in line. I refuse to fall in line... fall in line... fall in line. I refuse to fall in line.
Maybe we're the same. (We're not the same. We're not the same.) No, but I despise you.
(No, I despise you.) I know I'm nothing like you. (I don't wanna be anything like you.) Maybe we're the same. (We're not the same. We're not the same.) No, but I despise you.
(No, I despise you.) I know I'm nothing like you. (I don't wanna be anything like you.)
We're losing our footholds. We're losing our faith. We're losing our futures.
We're losing our sanity. I'm losing my foothold. I'm losing my sanity.
Open your eyes. This is a lie. Open your eyes. We're all living a lie.
(No, I despise you.) I know I'm nothing like you. (I'm nothing like you.)
Open my eyes. Open my eyes. Open my eyes. I refuse to live a lie.
(No, I despise you.) I know I'm nothing like you. (I don't wanna be anything like you.)

We're losing our sanity. I'm losing my foothold. I'm losing my sanity.

My favorite song from APFP's new ablum "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell"! It seems to me they're saying how some preachers of Christianity who "Speak God's Word" spew bullshit as if they're the voice of God. They speak the tone of "Repent or Perish" as if not heeding their words will automatically judge you. They preach that giving money to their Church grants easy pass tickets to Heaven. Forcibly converting people gets you a higher seat in God's presence. They believe their words are golden to God's will when they're actually not. We have to open our eyes to these false profits and realize that they cannot speak for God because no one can. Very deep meaning and true along the lines.
They've said the song is about Mattie from For Today. The recording near the end is him speaking at a show.

The song is not specifically about Mattie from For Today. The words you hear at the end is Aaron, the drummer. They dropped the vocals down and it just happened to sound like Mattie. The lyrics are not a direct attack to Mattie, but the fact that the words at the end are confused and believed to be said by Mattie says a lot about what Mattie is spewing nowadays.

The Marriage of Heaven and Hell is actually a book written by William Blake in the late 1700s. All of the song titles from this album are taken from the first 10 lines of the poem "A Song of Liberty." A lot of the lyrics and ideas from this song come from The Marriage of Heaven and Hell as well.
I think these are the lyrics at the end from the voice that's speaking. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Keep your eyes open my children 'cause the new face of God is coming. I am the of God and the of our generation. And if you are with me and believe, stop blocking my rule. For I decide if you are going to be in heaven. God has given me that right. And if you don't agree with me, then you are against God.
Explanation by vocalist Andy Atkins: Well, this song is a big step for us. This is the first song of our career that drops a real singing, “hook” chorus. It was a big jump that we were scared but excited to take. The five of us definitely have a love for melody. Our music used to be so much more melodic than it is now, but it still had rough, gritty vocals. When our music started going heavier and less melodic, we still wanted to keep that aspect of melody in our jams. Blake [Martin, guitar] had been talking about singing some on the album, so we tried it out here and liked the outcome so much that we added singing to other songs. Lyrically speaking, “The Fall” is me realizing that I’m falling from my faith in God and that I need to connect with Him on a real level and not blindly follow the religious B.S. that’s being thrown out to the masses.
